Domenech might be crazy, but he's not stupid. With 4+years now of experience, I think he's learned the game and how to study film. The Dutch played their best today, the French will know what to do. We showed all our cards to the Dutch by playing the 4-3-3 and line up we did, I don't think France will make the same mistake.

as for the same mistake, it's still doable; we are french that's what we do best: same mistakes all over again :D
about domenech: he never learns from anything, he's an eternal second and I won't trust him ever (although he picked the best 23 we have so far) cause he's picking his lineup based on astrological signs - and it's not even a joke - or cause his players never slept with his wife... really, no kidding

Leaving out Trezeguet was dumb, maybe even Mexes and Flamini. His distaste for Serie A might cost him his job if he doesn't win.

seriously, I'm not even sure he's having a grudge against serie A players, he's just weird :p
and even if he had, he signed a 4 year contract with the fff, I read he's one of the top 3 wagers for NT coaching :(

Well I can understand grodada's viewpoint, if it was the first game of Romania he saw - it was definitely the ugliest game at Euro so far. I think there was one shot on goal the whole game (had by France), and that says alot. However, i prefer drawing with no shots on goal to losing 0-3 with 6 shots (like Italy did). Still, we need to step up the attack a notch to go further. But, considering how Italy will be all over us next game, I suspect we'll play the same tactical system and hope to score on a counterattack or something.
Anyways, I do believe this performance fails to reflect the real value of any of the teams - both France and Romania have amazing defensive records this season, both playing very cautious football, defending low and closing any defensive gaps. The second matchday will be totally different.

Italy beats Romania on Friday and Romania is mathematically eliminated, so that will eliminate Romania assuming Italy does the job.
France/Holland is the key
If Holland wins or draws, Italy is in the drivers seat to advance and just have to avoid defeat to France and they will advance.
If France wins beats Holland, Italy would then have to beat France in the final group game to advance or else France will advance with a win or draw.
Romania is a non-factor in the group assuming Italy beat them on Friday

Wait, I'm not quite sure how if Romania loses on Friday they are eliminated. Couldn't they beat Holland and France beat Italy. Lets say Holland wins vs. France, That would leave the group like this: Holland 6 France & Romania 4 Italy 3.
If anything the only thing that seems to be certain is if Italy loses, they are mathematically eliminated, not Romania.

Italy will be a non-factor if we beat them on friday. in fact the italians will be forced to pack their bags and go home. ;) don't think the french were a disaster against us, because they weren't. with 7 very good defensive players on the field it's almost imposible to score against Romania (maybe a penalty or a lucky goal). i'm not proud of my team's game but if Dica or Cristea will play on friday and Mutu will have more freedom in attack, then Italy will be in a lot of trouble.

The French have no reason to get desperate after this result.
Just look at Romania's results in the qualifiers. Holland (which crushed Italy 3-0 yesterday), got only one point from its two games versus Romania and failed to score a single goal. In the 0-0 draw at Rotterdam, Holland actually played worse than France did yesterday, as they didn't have a single chance to score while Romania had a few. In the second game, Romania beat Holland 1-0.
So, unless you totally underestimated Romania, a 0-0 draw with us is quite normal. We have an organised team, with a good defence, that can shut down most opponents. I just hope we'll attack more in the following games :).
Although, with the Italians being desperate now, our best tactic would be to play just like yesterday, letting then attack (which they don't like to do), and hoping to score on a counter.

actually france-italy is the key (for us). if france win that, and romania fails to come up with heroics that they looked both unwilling and incapable of yesterday, they will finish with no more than 3 points, italy the same, and we can even lose to holland and still finish second.

I would respect the French Football Federation if they benched every starter from Monday except the goalie for lack of national spirit to make a point.
Let the chips fall where they may.
