It may seem crazy to some folks, but if Bob Bradley is going to continue to play two holding midfielders, I'd start Adu in the central midfield with Donovan on the right, Beasley on the left and Dempsey up top (at least until Jozy Altidore is healthy again).
Please!
Oguchi Onyewu is Mr. Plus/Minus.
Gooch is better without Boca beside him.
DaMarcus Beasley’s knee remains a concern. Yet this Beasley just didn’t have that burst of speed in him.
Agreed. Beas was always a speed guy and when he doesn't have that he's just not as effective.
I can’t think of any U.S. player who has a bigger difference of responsibilities between his positions at club and country than Michael Bradley. Why don’t we ever see the guy who scored 19 club goals last season doing anything remotely similar in a U.S. jersey?
If this question could be answered we would improve dramatically. Bob needs to figure out what is going on.
Dempsey was slightly better than he was in a bad outing against Spain, but he still hasn’t had a stand-out game for the U.S. in quite a while.
Sadly true. But he's not a winger! Play him centrally!

Overall good article by Grant Wahl.

It's not exactly soccer analysis, but I'm surprised that nobody else mentioned that our whites vs Arg's blue-and-white stripes were a bit of a kit clash, at the very least on TV. It was a hard game to watch because of it. One of us should've worn a dark kit.

Remember a few months ago when a little over 50% of the board was saying that Dempsey needs to go back to his "natural" right midfielder role and Donovan needs to play centrally up top?

....

Dempsey's not a winger? Isn't that where he plays for Fullham more times than not? And isn't the last time he played center midfield years ago with New England?

Better answer is that Dempsey is simply not enjoying much of a run of form at present.

I agree. Dempsey is worn out from a long season and tough battle with Fulham. He had to be the man for Fulham for a long time while the team suffered through many tough injuries. Then he was continued to be a significant player when the others came back and fought to stay up.

Dempsey needs some time off. He's fully capable of playing out wide right or being one of the 3 in the 4-2-3-1. He's even capable of being the 1 striker in that formation. It's just time that he gets a break.

He can play right midfield.

He's not a winger.

He hasn't been enjoying a run of form since scoring against Liverpool last year.

At the stadium, and from the upper deck at that, it was easy to tell the shirts apart. When I rewatched the match this morning, it was the TV that made it difficult to tell. That said, one team should have worn the alternate shirt.

I agree. I had to use their shorts to tell them apart at times.

I agree that he is not contributing now and I could see not using him against Barbados for sure. But, it's not about positions as he has played two positions for Fullham (and for the Revs prior to that for the last year there) -- forward and outside mid. He has not played center mid for a while.

I have to agree with this, Dempsey is a substitute right now until he proves otherwise. He did more yesterday, and the previous 2 games to stop, any move forward. He just isn't playing instinctively well right now.

Elaborate a bit.
He concentrates on tertiary issues and misses the elephant in the room.

That's sucky journalism (though this one came off his blog).

Can't remember where I read it, but I think the reason why the game started late was that the Argentines insisted on wearing their blue and white kits and not the dark blues, which was supposed to be the agreement.

Very good article & I agree with pretty much everything Grant said!! I'll just add this article link...in terms of what's our MAIN problem, because it's right on the money & speaks volumes of why it's SOOO frustrating to be a USMNT fan!!
