I wanted to point something out about last night's game. When they set up to sing the national anthems I was anxious to see how the crowd would react.
First they played the Argentine National Anthem. Very nice, heard no booing from the Americans. Then they played the American National Anthem. I thought initially their would be some clowns but I was pleasantly surprised. Many Argentines were singing along and many with their hands cross their hearts (I was one of those).
Then at the end of the National Anthem everyone cheered and applauded. I felt so very proud to be at that event. To see what I saw and how everyone came together for the anthems was something really nice.
WHEN'S THE NEXT GAME????? lol :D

well even before the match in the parking lot when there was that period of singing - when we sang "God Bless America" most of them sang it with us - it was a respect thing yesterday - it was cool.
There was just that one clown with the drum but I think he was just really pumped - i dont think he was looking to fight!
Fecking Freddy man - he has spark! Think he gets the start against Barbados?

That guy was funny. He was banging the drum in my face, screaming I don't even remember, so I say to him in spanish "are you going to hit me with the drum". So he looked at me with that crazy face that he had going and I'm like "I'm Argentinian, you idiot". I think that I caught him off guard lol.
Like I was telling a few of them, save the energy for the Brazil game. lol But the thing is that this is probably the 2nd time that Argentina has played in the NYC area. I believe that the 2004 Fiesta Cup was the first. They usually play in LA or Miami.

Howard was on his game last night!
That's why Cruz is so disputed on the national team. For Inter the man scores with his guys closed but on the NT he flat out sucks. Personally I would have liked to see Cavenaghi start in Cruz' spot.

I would call my first cap a resounding success, i sat in 103 with a knot of argies on my left and sams army to my right the atmosphere was electric, especially once it started raining. the whole end got pumped up and nobody sat for the rest of the game. The USA had their best game of the three friendlies and it is significant that they played better from one game to the next. It means they are learning from the experience which is all i wanted from these friendlies anyways.
My only bitch was getting out of that shithole, i didnt move for 1 hour, stuck on the ********ing roof of the parking lot the whole damn time. it made me so angry.

I was up at 7:15, but wnt back to sleep at 8:30, got into office at 11 and still feel like shit.
Great time, great game. Argies are pure class, but we held our own and for that we can be proud. Howard is massive.

Personally I didn't expect anything less from Howard. He was like two men underneath the posts. I guess playing at Giants Stadium must have brought back memories of the Metros. Probably gave him that extra added oomphhh!
