Croatia 6 points 3-1 goals+/-
Germany 3 points 3-2 goals +/-
Austria 1 point 1-2 goals +/-
Poland 1 point 1-3 goals +/-

Croatia is in nomatter what ...if Germany wins against Austria they are in
Now the tricky part Poland needs to beat Croatia and Poland has 4 points and Germany would have to lose to Austria, but Austria has 4 points too so we would have to beat Croatia 2-0 and austria would have to beat Germany 1-0

Could not get quotations to work, but it seems there was some talk, maybe the soccerway article or bbc's that was talking about if the ball hit the defender in the leg, such a deflection might affect an offsides ruling, Linesman was right there.

I've seen it in a few different places. The good thing is that you only need to copy and paste Law 11, Decision 2 and leave it at that.

BTW, its "assistant referee". ;)

Just this last qualifying series, it looked like practically no way, Russia after losing to Israel was advancing, that was unlikely,

If Poland advance, that would be even more unlikely, for Austria to put one over the Deutscheland, but Poland can play like it will happen, just like the Blackhawks came so close to qualifying for the Stanley Cup playoffs but in the end, it was futile.

Poland has dissapointed, but they have not been awful.

Really, the Czechs won on a goal and the Swiss did not get penalty calls for them.

Croatia only defeated Austria with a PK, but they took 8 yards on the prior throw in and yes, that one Austrian player probably should have received his second yellow and been sent off.

you're talking about a bunch of "what ifs" and Poland just flat out didn't get the job done. Boruc showed his amazing class today, and Poland just couldn't finish on the opportunities they had. if they put a 2nd one in the back of the net the penalty situation at the end might not have happened or would have been less crucial. with that said. i am depressed. i've waited two years for Poland's redemption since last World Cup's disappointment and have been let down again. Poland looked pretty good these past two matches, much different than in year's past, but it wasn't enough. things just didn't fall into place :(

that ref was just downright bad....he blew a number of calls .... 25 to13 fouls in favor of Austria ! .... Austrians dove a lot.... Yellie cards were realli warranted ....the ref played a big part in the result ... don't want to beat the dead horse here but the pk should have never been called .....poland were a better side.... We should have done better ..... It hurts...let's hope for a miracle on Monday ....let's hope Leo is retained.... Let's hope new blood.... Janczyk, majewski, kazmierczak, kuba, pazdan, zahorski, piszczek, grzelak, kokoszka, wawrzyniak, blossom into spectacular footballers I know they can....the fat lady hasnt sung yet

I wasn't defending that it wasn't offside, all I said was I heard it was discussed about it being deflected: however, here is a description of some of the action:

"Euzebiusz Smolarek found Marek Saganowski on the left. The Southampton striker turned his defender then hit a shot which bobbled through three minor deflections before being tapped in by Guerreiro. It was a marginal offside call but, while replays were inconclusive, they did suggest Mullarkey may have got it wrong.

Two minutes after the break Andreas Ivanschitz was manhandled in the box by half-time substitute Pawel Golanski. The Austrian captain did not go down straight away, then dived. Webb penalised Ivanschitz for his initial honesty. " - http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/internationals/austria-1-poland-1-austria-stay-alive-thanks-to-webbs-intervention-846357.html

"If Poland needed English help from referee Howard Webb for their goal, allowed to stand despite being blatantly offside, then fortune was reversed for the late leveller with a foul that to Polish eyes did not appear clear-cut. But, according to the Poles' coach, Leo Beenhakker, it is a miracle that Poland even qualified for Euro 2008.

Once again, Poland has followed up a solid qualifying campain with a disappointing tournament.

I know, one wonders if they can make South Africa and on the other hand, if we really want to see them there ... but of course so, and 2012 of course, means they don't have to qualify.

There's been a glimmer of hope, their first Euro, I wonder why they didn't go when they had Deyna and those good teams.

The Czechs have been the same way, they totally lack an offensive cutting edge and indeed, so much of it comes down to their world class goalkeeper.

The only brightspot I saw was Artur Boruc, who played a phenomenal game. It leaves me wondering how much longer he will remain with Celtic.

boruc is a world class goalkeeper ....so?
Czechs are at least disciplined on defense... I think they have bigger problems than us on the horizon..... Not to turn the page.... But I like our chances for south Africa

i like our chances a lot to

we have in our qualifying group

the only one to truly worry about is the Czech Republic and they have the same issues with age that we have

i'm with Gunning4Chelsea on this one... when you make completely ignorant comments you've got to expect to be called out on. we don't go out of our ways to ridicule your teams or clubs, so don't go out of your way to spit on ours

Boruc was phenomenal but the entire team played pretty damn well... so what if we didn't top our group, so what if we probably exit the Euros this summer in the group stage. for once Poland has looked damn promising out there and has taken it to teams. they weren't playing 10 or 11 behind the ball. they tried playing their way and did damn well. things could have been better but everything didn't fall into place as it could have. but they did look good out there. you criticize Poland and how they looked when other teams in this tournament have played DULL, LIFELESS football and appear to not even deserve to be here. so before you start throwing jabs out there make sure you know what the hell you are talking about

Fair enough. I get excited like everyone else. I felt the goal was clearly offside and that it was clearly a penalty. Maybe I pushed my view too far. But I didn't appreciate this post by G4C aimed at me either.

"Thanks julie foudy .....watch some more football games kid
a rubber spoon makes more sense than you"
