your prediction before the match to me implied that you think germany are a better team.
if it didn't mean to imply that then nevermind.
To me just one game, especially in a group stage, that was a good win but not dominating will not change my view.
I think croatia are close, but quite as good. In other words, if they meet again in this tournament my favourites are still germany.
My prediction before the match implied that I thought Germany would win the match.
Yes, I thought Germany was the better team ON PAPER and I still think that. But unlike you, I don't think, as you've written before and after that match that Germany is some "level" above Croatia.
Germany is a bit better ON PAPER but yesterday Croatia did what they needed to do to BEAT GERMANY.
You and some others were writing as if Croatia had no chance in hell. I told you before, I thought Germany would win, but I also thought Croatia would give them all they could handle.
Some of you write as if Croatia was Austria or someone like that.
Germany is NOT SO MUCH BETTER THAN CROATIA that anyone should be talking about different levels.
As for the rest you are reading too much into my post...what whining and excuses are you talking about? I said germany were shit where they were shit, and said croatia did well what they did well...and croatia got majorly lucky with the 2nd goal. That's it.
I'm not blaming tactics or the coach or deflecting any blame from the players.
And that's the key. Germany wasn't "shit."
Germany looked bad because CROATIA F#CKING MADE THEM LOOK BAD!
To be honest, blaming tactics would be far more realistic than some of the whiny bullshit you've posted since that match ended. Low having his head up his f#cking ass making substitutions didn't help matters!
What whining am I talking about? I'm not going back to all the whining you did right after the match. Everyone knows what you said.
But here's one you make me laugh my ass off with from his message.
"Croatia got majorly lucky with that second goal?"
"But that was true!" you'll say.
Yes, but I guess you're going to tell me Germany wasn't "lucky" with that ball bouncing right to Podolski??
No. That was set play right?
Low and Flick just said, "We'll just bounce it off the defender's head right to Lukas, who will finish because he's the only one on the team capable of doing so at this moment???
Give me a f#cking break. How is one play "lucky" and the other isn't??
You'll say "I didn't say Podolski's wasn't lucky!"
No, you didn't, but you sure as hell conveniently omitted it from your comments!
Take away both the "lucky" incidents and Germany still loses 1-0.
And that is the bottom line! Germany LOST! Not because "they were shit" but because THEY WERE BEATEN!
Germany is still my favorite to win it all. Yesterday doesn't change that for me either!
But yesterday, they were f#cking BEATEN and not because they were "shit", but because a team who refused to back down from them MADE THEM LOOK LIKE SHIT and BEAT THEM!
Is it still so hard for you to understand?

Dude I think we have different defintions of "level". Trust me, the gap is small between the two teams though. I think what mainly separates them is the mentality in cruch games.
You and some others were writing as if Croatia had no chance in hell. I told you before, I thought Germany would win, but I also thought Croatia would give them all they could handle.
Before the game I said that I think germany will win (think I said a win is likely), a draw less likely and a loss unlikely. I think you got someone else's predictions mixed up with mine. Check page 4 or 5 of this thread or thereabouts. Somewhere early. And I also rebutted nekkibasara's comment that they weren't impressive.
Also, what I wrote did not say how close or not the match would be. I was just predicting the result.
And that's the key. Germany wasn't "shit."

Yes, it can be argued that way. During a match there are many actions and reactions and it's hard for us to say what affected what in exact terms.
Croatia's play obviously put germany off in general.
So, I was speaking only from Germany's point of view here. If I was a German player I'd say "We made shit final passes all game. Yes they put pressure on us and made us lose focus, but from OUR point of view....we know we can overcome it"
Same for croatia. I spoke from their point of view. I mean it could have been that Germany were feeling timid because they'd been given a crap team talk by loew or woke up that morning overwhelmed by internal pressure - nothing to do with Croatia. Thus making it easier for croatia to do what croatia did. But we don't know any of that. So I just said "Croatia did such and such well"...
What whining am I talking about? I'm not going back to all the whining you did right after the match. Everyone knows what you said.
That's right, everyone knows what I said, but I can't control the way everyone takes it.
I admit the wording was strong and direct, but if you for a moment do not assume that I was down in the dumps about the game, you'll see I was just saying what I thought happened in the game.
The game finished, I was down for about 10 minutes and after that I came to the computer. I don't get emotional during games so I was essentially speaking like a non-german supporter.
The other thing is that, like you, I think the two teams are closely matched.
If Holland played defensively against us and began to take the ball to the corner after 85 mins I'd call it "pathetic too". Why? Because I know they are much better than that. I don't expect them to go attacking when they're 2-0 or 2-1 up...but I know Croatia are a very good footballing side...very good on the ball...smart passers....so I expected them to do more of that.
So calling what I called "pathetic" was for me, a compliment to Croatia.
I expected them to have out-passed and outplayed Germany if they won the game.

Yes, but I guess you're going to tell me Germany wasn't "lucky" with that ball bouncing right to Podolski??
No. That was set play right?
Croatia's was a cross that took a big deflection off podolski, then hit the post and went straight to olic having taken out the goalie and both defenders with it's path.
Basically none of the results in that sequence were as originally intended by the croatian player.
Podolski's was some sort of structered attack beforehand (ie. intentions).
And then Robert kovac HEADED it outward (intentions)...watch the replay...I actually watched it closely this evening after you mentioned this in the morning. It didn't bounce off kovac. It was a weak header but he was trying intentionally to get his head to it.

I don't have to watch shit again. I've already seen those replays 10X each.
I'm finished with you and your double talk. You're so good at spreading the shit, you should be a politician.
I have other things to do. Check the BVB English site later.

I think you assume and leave a bit too quickly.
I mean - for example : one thing there was started because you didn't know what I meant by a "level", but just assumed what it was.
I have other things to do. Check the BVB English site later.
Ok...let me know if there's any work there I can help with.

bla bla...with this attitude people are going to fall out of love with football and the WC will be dead in 30 years ;)
I'm half serious though...
I'd rather do well and lose trying to play good football than win by being cautious. That is why the german sides of the 60s and 70s were so popular but the 80s notorious and made even Germans fall out of love (not saying that they were 100% fair on the team but...)
with that opnion you should be a dutch supporter

with that opnion you should be a dutch supporter
but you gotta remember that the german sides of the 70s won it all
it's still possible even today, but I think that it's very important to keep football going. To inspire kids.
It's like al gore says in "the inconvenient truth" - what's more important...the planet or the economy? Well if you don't have a planet...

What was Klose doing in the match?
Germany must play Neuville because he has quick feet...
Friedrich must play next match too.
a new coach will be on the way after the Euroes i guess unless Germany play like GREECE in the quaterfinals against portugal ( 3-6-1) with Neuville the main strikers and Jansen + Lahm as wingers. the other 4 mids should be ballack, frings, podolski, rolfes

Schweinsteiger gets off lucky. (http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news;_ylt=AlVA3BWtf4Afze.pl3Ft.OQXwLYF?slug=reu-eurogermanyschweinsteiger&prov=reuters&type=lgns)
Just going to miss the Austria match.
Germany gets a big break here. I thought he would get two matches and feel he should have gotten two matches.
However, UEFA has made their decision and we go from here.

wonder if the acting from the croatian player had anything to do with it only being 1 game, as schweinsteiger didn't connect with the face (unless i'm wrong, I think you have to connect with the face for it to be a straight red card)
either way, this helps germany as I think one option of loew's could be to play gomez and klose once more and if it doesn't work, to put podolski up front and pig on the left

I think because he got the red mostly on intent and unsporting conduct.
The referee knew the Croatian player had not been hit in the face, but in the chest, but he was hit nonetheless.
It was a reaction in the heat of battle and I think Pig Mounter got consideration for that.
I don't agree, but can't complain either.
If that is UEFA's reasoning, it is good reasoning.

This isn't a huge upset at all.
Everyone knew Croatia was a quality team and that Germany have their problems, especially at the back.
You're right. It's a huge upset only for those who believed in the crap propagated by some "experts" before the match...
This game confirmed my warnings (some people called it "pessimism"), even though I have to admit that I didn't expect us as horrible as it was the case in the first half.
Thankfully, some people & players are finally down-to-earth now ... and as we all know, this attitude isn't the worst in life! ;)
Congrats to Croatia on the deserved win and on reaching the 1/4 final against the Czech Rep. or Turkey!
