Siyam, about the Turkish Ratings, I can't represent myself how many viewers represents one point of rating :

Ok, I understand the Share of 55%, that means 55% of Turkish people which was watching TV at this moment watched the match between Portugal and Turkey of the channel tv ATV.
But how many viewers are representing 19,90% ?

For example, in France 1% of rating represents 572 450 viewers. Also, the match between Roumania and France was watching here by 572 450 x 16,8% = 9 617 160 viewers. The market share stood at 54%.

well, i don't understand the tv ratings and i don't know turkish very well...
the %19 means all day sharing i think...and in turkey there is another tv channel to publish euro2008 ,called ligtv and lig tv is not included the rating channel..lig tv is in cable, satellite and payment..also lig tv has the turkish super league, so many of turks r watchin' from ligtv like me...so, %55 from atv viewers + probably %15-20 from lig tv viewers...

I don't understand a thing : has been the audience Portugal-Turkey of 52.000.000 million or this game had have only the 55% of share ? The population of the Turkey has ' ONLY ' 75 million of inhabitants !!!!

@napolisoccer, i did try to explain in my last post...u can search it lig tv too...lig tv has probably %15-20 rating too..55+15-20 its 70-75...lig tv is not in the rating channel list...the only officiers knows the ratings and they declare at 17.00 when the programme start...watch atv at 17.00 then u will see...
and turkey population is not 75million,right now 78-80million, in the summer it's 85 million..

and @joga westham, i don't really belive the tv ratings...and that 52million is wrong for me...it has to be 65-70 million....i'm not turk but living in turkey and everone , really everone only talk football and watch these matches.. the record for tv rating in turkey was 2002 world cup, %98 of turkey did watch that match senegal - turkey semi final.



The official ratings are always lower than the actual audience. Here in Saarbrücken, Germany (~180.000 inhabitants) where I live, every freaking Café, restaurant and bar has it's own TV screen outside and inside and everyone is watching. And not only the Germany games, but every game. Yesterday the streets where full of people watching the games. But these people actually aren't considered in the official statistics but only the number of TV screens (as far as I know).

I think Euro 2004 was off to a slightly beter start. But the other groups were more interesting then. France - England for example had ratings of 4,5m 63%.

Turkey - Switzerland (ATV) : rating of 6,9% and market share of 25,3%.

and add it % 15-20 share from lig tv viewers..
and according to 'gunlukreytingler' the last 10minutes wathed by 70million...

in turkey many big channels r not in rating list because they don't belive the result...there r 50-60 tv channel but maybe only %10 of them r in rating channel list...

In Portugal, 2,2 million of viewers watched the match between their team against Czech Republic. Market share of 84,5% compared to 2,5 million of viewers for the first match of Portugal against Turkey (77,3% of market share).

If we compare the ratings (the rate of penetration) of other countries like :

- France 1% = 572 450 viewers and 100% = 57 245 000 (for a total of 64 million inhabitants)
- Portugal 1% = 94 590 viewers and 100% = 9 459 000 (for a total of 11 million inhabitants)
- Greece 1% = 93 570 viewers and 100% = 9 357 000 (for a total of 11 million inhabitants)
- Italy 1% = 566 000 viewers and 100% = 56 600 000 (for a total of 59 million of inhabitants), that represents around 90% of total inhabitants in each country.

Approximately I think we can estimate 90% of 71 million inhabitants in Turkey = around 64 000 000 potential viewers.
With a rating (rate of penetration) of 19,9%, we get 19,9% x 64 000 000 = around 13 million viewers for this match of the Turkish channel tv, ATV. Total viewers in the same time : 13 000 000/55% = around 23,5 million viewers of all Turkish TV.

23million?? funny...even u17 teams match could beat that....mate, have u ever been in turkey?? u can't compare to the turkey with other european and industrialized countries...first, in anatolia and %90 of istanbul' ppl watch only tv at evening...it means %95-98 of turkey population r inhabitants...and turkey population (in summer with 10-15million tourist) r 80 million...and u forgot the 'lig tv' viewers...but we never know the lig tv's rating because lig tv is not counting...like big channels (ntv,kanal24,sky etc)...but atv and lig tv r rival..if we talk about portugal-turkey match, 36 million viewers from atv and 16 from lig tv...maybe it would be 30-22 or etc.. i don't know coz they r rival and there are many lies but atv declared it...
say it to any turk that only 23 million wathced the game and then everone will laugh...
anyway, just u can't compare to the turkey with other industrialized countries...im working here and i know the difference..

OK Siyam, if the share on ATV of Turkey-Portugal is 55% and 15-20% on Ligtv, this mean that the market share total of the game has been about 70-75% ( it is the same or inferior of the most share of the other nations of the Euro 2008 )
Now you say that in Turkey almost all to watch the TV in that hour ( if the population has 78 million of inhabitants and 70 million to watch the TV in the time of the game, this mean that the 75% of 70 million is 52 million).
Are they rights my calculations ?
