I just watched a 30 minute Euro 2008 summary of the day. Judy Foudy more than holds her own in her analysis and commentary on the day's action. She has more insights into the action than any of the crew except Andy Gray. Also, more than I've ever heard from a Bretos, Miles, or Hudson.
You have to wonder if her words were said with a Brit male accent, the reception would be entirely different.

Are you freakin' joking??? It has nothing to do with American/man/Brit/woman!! But of course, the card had to be thrown in there eventually!
She stinks because she says absolutely nothing intelligent regarding the game. The things she says half the time are standard comments that any fan generally says during a match…there is nothing more, nothing deep and nothing new to her comments. We learn nothing from them other than what she thinks about it…how nice.
And the other half of the time, I have to puke when she opens her mouth.
The other day she said she was happy the ref didn't award the Austrian player his second yellow because that would have caused him to get his marching orders and the game would not have had the thrilling last 30 minutes v Croatia. That's like saying "I like such and such club because their uniforms are neat".
As much as it may be true that having Austria play with 11 players rather than 10 gave it the intensity that it did, how can a commentator support a ref making a wrong call in order to watch a “more fun” match??
Even Andy Gray said, no matter what - the game suffers when the ref determines the outcome of the game with poor decisions. Frodo was like, “I don't care...like, I think it was like much better this way, because like, even though he should have gotten carded, like I thought he was really, really cute so the game stayed more interesting this way”.
This is just one of the many, many examples of her comments on any given day but I can't waste my time elaborating on her crap!

Dam it. I've been listening to WSD and reading threads on here and the big talk seems to be around this clash of titans between Smyth and Gray, plus the sub header of this Foudy woman (whom i've never even heard of before)
Is this feed only available in the U.S cause I'm seeing none of this in Canada.
If so, does anyone have a link for a torrent for one of the Euro matches cause I'm dying to see this panel in action. So much buzz around it.

In general, I'm really happy with the ESPN coverage. The video and audio quality has been excellent in HD. Generally, the match commentary has been good, and I have actually watched the post game analysis (which I rarely do with other American sports). Foudy has been fine (even though I don't agree with some of the things she says, Smythe is over-exposed and just says some real stupid things (even my kids pick up on them), and Grey has been a breath of fresh air.
Sure, it could be better, but I'm quit pleased so far and have been enjoying the tournament!

Foudy referred to Austria as Austrailia before catching herself.

She also referred to the Greeks as being as disappointing as the Czechs. A) the Czechs played pretty well despite losing against Portugal and B) the Greeks are exactly what everyone thought they were coming into the tournament. How is that a disappointment? She isn't that bad, she just obviously doesn't really know the international men's game.

i'm pretty happy with espn coverage. it's so much better than what i'm used to from them it's almost unrecognizable. i've actually enjoyed both the in game commentary as well as the pre-half-post game analysis, something i've never really been able to say about their coverage before.
as for foudy, if i had to pick a weak link i suppose she'd be it, but overall i have no problem with her. she does just fine. i'm pretty sure i'd rather listen to her than dave o'brien.

I'm watching it on ESPN deportes, i know Spanish and i think the broadcast and coverage on ESPN deportes is much much better. I can't stand Julie Foudy (or whatever her name is).

I'm amazed that someone who played on the US Women's team for 17 years keeps refering to it as offsides.

Hahahahahahahaaha. Are you serious.
Please, I'm begging now. somebody, anybody, throw up a link on some pre-match, half-time, post-match panel evidence. I've got to see this stuff.
Nobody's even posted an espn feed match on maXxed.

It just happened on the MLS Pregame. They were showing Poland/Austria and she said something like: "thats offsides...its offsides...that is offsides". Maybe not word for word, but she said "offsides" three times in as many seconds. :D

Not to be a Foudy apologist, but she would hardly be the first player turned pundit/analyst whose verbals skills left something to be desired.
