Talk all things 2008
Predictions / Talk about any of the matches / players whatever!
Czech just got a tad lucky in the 80th as there should have been a penalty for a handball - Switzerland has been controlling, but back line fell asleep a bit on the goal

What a terrible call on the penalty against Italy today. But Buffon is the ********in man. Toni's goal at the end of the first half should have counted and the Romanian keeper was also great today. It was a great game, now hopefully Italy can beat France.

You don't know how estatic I am that the Portuguese LOST!!!! When I found out the result I was jumping up and down. CR7 has just about lost all his credit with me and I'm happy to see his team exit early.
As for Germany it seems that they will probably take the crown.

I liked how Germany played yesterday. Very effective and deadly. Something that I haven't seen from Germany in a long time.

It's his attitude versus his play. At critical moments he fails and then you remember his nasty attitude. He's a wanna be Brazilian in my eyes. I'm not saying he sucks, although on his national team he's not as magical as on Man U.

Just as magical as when he almost blew the CL for them? lol

That's what I'm talking about. For all the BS he talks and the BS he does on the field. Like HOG THE BALL, NOT PASS IT, SHOOT AND NOT SCORE BECAUSE HE WANTED THE GOAL INSTEAD OF HIS TEAMMATE, etc etc all that adds up to me disliking him.

I think his attitude his good - the one part of his game i would like to see is for him to toughen up, but thats the mentailty of a Portugal player - any small contact - get to the ground and cry!

I think that there is a misconception about that. It's not a matter of toughening up but how the rules are interpreted by players.

LOL...the rules are if you're faking.. you get carded. I would change the rules, any player who goes down. Has to go off to the side, for at least a minute. You'll see a lot of this diving stop

I think that it's very similar to how American Basketball is versus European. In Europe basketball is very rough and less fouls are called. Here we are more technical and fouls that wouldnt even be considered in Europe here are called.
I think that would be the best comparison of what I'm referring to.

Exactly...But just like Football. It was once like that here in this country. Until a certain number 23 came into the league, then they changed the rules. Watch a NBA game from the 70's or 80's..every team had an enforcer or goon. After MJ, the NBA is a soft league, they didn't want poor MJ to get the shite knocked outta him

I think that it's the leagues responsibility to protect its most talented players. Look at what happened to the Brazilian/Croatian player whose legs was broken because of over zealous challenges.
Refs should look at the intention and actions of the players and not to much the outcomes. If I come at you with a gun, shoot but miss does that make me NOT GUILTY of any crime?

I've been over this with my South American friends for years. Its cultural, you guys like flare, we {western euro's] enjoy the physical aspect of the game. I'll never agree with you on this. And you'll never agree with me on this issue :D
