Good article from Ives. His analysis of our summer friendlies is a good one, and keeps perspective of the larger picture, qualifying.
Interesting note that Boca and Wolff are out, I had missed that somehow. It is going to be good to see Donovan back on the field, and the possibility of having he and Adu on the field at the same time is... exciting.
Some quotes:
"You could argue that it is time to get a look at some other defenders in the starting lineup, but the reality is that the foursome of Carlos Bocanegra, Oguchi Onyewu, Steve Cherundolo and Heath Pearce is the best unit the U.S. can put on the field by a significant margin."
"The Spain game was a promising one for the Americans, particularly compared to the England game, but it did shed more light on the national team's need for a reliable forward."
"Michael Bradley showed enough in the first half against Spain to prove that he should remain as the linking midfielder."
"The American's won't need to commit that many numbers forward to generate offense, particularly not if Adu is handed another start....If Landon Donovan and Altidore were healthy then we could see them and Adu start together for the first time."
