Christian Ziege has returned to Spurs Lodge as he prepares to take the next step on the comeback trail.
The German international completed the first phase of the pre-season preparations, travelling to La Manga for training camp and featuring in first half of the opener against Stevenage. He was then withdrawn in the first half of the friendly against Wycombe amid fears of complications in the thigh injury he suffered on Boxing Day last year.
His fears were confirmed and further surgery was required on his thigh. He reports that this was a success and is spending the week building up his fitness before hopefully linking up with his teammates again at some point next week.
"I'm fine, it's been five weeks now since the second operation and I feel quite good," he revealed, before attempting to explain exactly what the problem was.
"To be honest, I really can't explain it myself. They tried to explain to me that in the leg you have a set of three muscles moving against each other and, in my case, they weren't working and were stuck together.
"There was one muscle not working and they said to me that it is nearly impossible to train with it. They fixed it and took a little part of the muscle out which would not work for me anymore.
"For two weeks I couldn't do anything, but now I hope it stays like it is - it's fantastic."
Great to hear :)
