Agreed. A lot of sloppy play from all four teams, lack of chemistry almost. I don't see any of these 4 going far.

i'd disagree. i thought Portugal looked like a class act out of the four teams. they have plenty of attacking weapons going forward. if they had a genuine world class CF they'd be near unbeatable.

Petit is still a good covering DM and with Pepe, Bosingwa and Carvalho at the back they have plenty of pace to cover counters.

their one liability is their overall physical size. against a more physical side they may struggle, especially on set pieces.

I wouldn't say that's a liability at all, if anyone's physical with them they go down and get a free kick! :p

I would say:

Portugal 7 points
Czech Republic 5 points
Turkey 2 points
Switzerland 1 point

The hosts were unlucky today, they could beat Turkey, but would have a hard time against the Portuguese.

I think Portugal got lucky with their first goal and Turkey played sloppy football, you can't win games without shooting at goal

i'd disagree about the first goal.

if anything it was poor defending but it was a well played one-two that set it up.

Portugal were by far the better team. as well as scoring twice they hit the woodwork on three seperate occasions.

Did not Portugal look confident and like the winner, even while it was 0-0 until the 65th minute or whenever they got their first goal, they certainly are going to advance with only the Czechs and Switzerland to play.

I think it was an impressive performance.

yea the set-up was good, but the goal was lucky, if it didn't bounce off the defenders leg no goal

Yeah! like that goal Poland scored here in Lisbon tying up the game (after we miss like 2-3 chances to put the game 3-1) desperate shot from 25m at 84-85min, that hit the post & rebound on Ricardo's head into the net. That wasn't lucky it was "class". :p

It was going in regardless.

Turkeys keeper was leaning the othetr way, pepe was leaning back, and if you look his foot was curved to flick it over the opposite side the keeper was leaning towards.

BBC headlines often get it right, if someone did poor, often, they are "Sorry England (example) loses" it be cricket or football.

"Stylish Portugal..."- http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport/ for while it is still up there, but that is a descriptive adjective.

Yeh, I haven't seen that stylish of a play since Argentina did that backheel thing against Serbia. Maybe I don't take note of it watching the pro games enough.

LOL! Did you actually watch the entire game? Anyone who saw it knows that Portugal were extremely unlucky not to be three or four up by the time that 'lucky' goal went in.

The 2-0 scoreline was a fair reflection on the overall quality of play both teams gave.

;)Czech republic
Turkiye
Portugal
Switzerland

Yes, the Portugese are full of stars, but The Turks have the skill and play as a team and the Czechs are deadly and clinical in the way they play. Should be a fun day tomorrow.:)

bwahahaha, the only thing the Turks looked skilled in was the art of missing open shots and tripping over themselves.

If Czech Republic ties Turkey in the last game who goes through? Because according to Wikipedia (I know I know) it's Czech Republic. They are even on everything as of right now, and if they tie, will continue to be even.

From Wikipedia:

Should two teams from the same group finish with an equal number of points, they will be ranked based on the following criteria:[11]

Number of points earned in matches between the teams in question;
Goal difference in matches between the teams in question (in cases where there are more than two teams equal on points);
Goals scored in matches between the teams in question (in cases where there are more than two teams equal on points);
Goal difference in all group matches;
Goals scored in all group matches;
In cases where exactly two teams are equal in all previously listed critera and play one another to a draw in their final group match, kicks from the penalty mark will be conducted in lieu of the remaining criteria;
The number of points obtained by the teams in question divided by the number of matches played in the qualifying competitions for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2008;
Fair play conduct of the teams in the group stage;
Drawing of lots.
