Training starts on Thursday but the Bundesliga announced the game plan for next season today. We'll start @Bielefeld followed by a home match v. Schalke. We play @Bayern on the fifth matchday and our last match of the Hinrunde will be @home against Wolfsburg. (Which means that the last league match of the season will be @Wolfsburg.)
Pretty good game plan imo since we have the other title competetors spread out well. I don't like it that we won't have a homematch on the last gameday and that we'll have to start the campaign on the road though.

Derbystar has provided Werder with a new ball for this season that will be used in the home matches. So far the players and coaches like it.

Schaaf still has his rubber-band fetish ;). What's new though is that the players are wearing transmitters on their bodys during training sessions.

and we also have a new fitness coach. I think the management is really hoping to avoid so many injuries again.

Sweet string Eissenfuss! Particularily, the line-up and half-time changes make for good reporting. The game photos are choice...like I was actually there. Thanks Lebenslang and keep it up!!!

Second test match in as many days coming up in a few minutes. It's against VfL Oldenburg from the Niedersachsenliga this time. Will be a bit tougher than yesterday.
Werder will start like this:
Vander
Boenisch, Naldo, Andersen, Erdem
Jensen, Baumann, Özil, Kruse
Harnik, Husejinovic
Pasanen, Rosenberg and Almeida who joined team training recently will not be used. Petri got injured during his military service he had to do for his home country Finland. So we're having the situation that we'll play with 3 leftbacks in defence. Expect many substitutions again. I'm hoping Testroet get's to play again. That kid is amazing.
you can watch the match again on werder.tv
edit: and 1:0 already. goal scored by Husejinovic after a nice run by Harnik.

5:0 it ended. Wasn't able to watch the whole match because I was playing a match myself but from what I read so far they played well and very fluid.
Goals scored by Husejinovic, Jensen, Bargfrede, Vranjes and Testroet. Should have been a lot more though. Best players Boenisch and Husejinovic in the 1st half and Heider and Testroet in the 2nd.
The lineup in the 2nd half was like this:
Mielitz
Boenisch, Prödl, Andersen, Tosic
Bargfrede, Niemayer, Vranjes, Hunt
Testroet, Heider

The team is already at it's 4th day of it's legendary Norderney-training-camp (hell-week). It's legendary because of it's many "Strandläufe" - beachruns.
Diego and Rosenberg joined the team there. Rosenberg has a light injury though. Almeida is injured for the rest of the week but is on the island as well and Sanogo is still sick. Husejinovic had a break-down and was too exhausted to continue with the circuit training yesterday. Bargfrede, Heider, Testroet, Mielitz and Erdem from the U23 are also still with the team.
Unfortunately I'm not there but from what I read the small island is packed with Werder fans. Schaaf is the embassador of the german rescue-corps for shipwrecked people (DGzRS) and so the coaching stuff took a ride with some of their speedboats in between training sessions yesterday:

In 5 minutes we'll play Fortuna Köln which is the only test match at Norderney. Werder.tv airs it for free.
Expect a dissapointing result. The players legs are supposed to feel like pudding.

2-1 halftime
29' - Stasiulewski Vranjes - 25' Pasanen - 8'
Somebody post the line up please.

17 Jul 2008, 03:28 PM
1st half
21 Mielitz - 3 Pasanen, 4 Naldo, 13 Tosic, 42 Erdem - 7 Vranjes, 25 Niemeyer, 20 Jensen, 10 Diego - 34 Harnik, 43 Testroet
2nd half
40 Pellatz - 2 Boenisch, 15 Prödl, 27 Andersen, 36 Kruse - 6 Baumann, 44 Bargfrede, 14 Hunt, 11 Özil - 9 Rosenberg, 46 Heider
it ended 3:1. they hit the crossbar and posts a few times and Özil missed a huge chance in the end so it could have been higher but it was obvious that their legs were heavy. Andersen was limping the last 20 minutes. Diego got fouled a lot as usual. Jensen was the best player in my opinion.
goals: Pasanen, Vranjes and own goal.
