A decent result against France, but I'm totally disgusted with our attitude.

Sure, France looks so strong on paper and a draw seemed like a good start before the game. But once the game started, the French proved to be so weak: their offense was less potent than Montenegro's while their defenders seemed vulnerable at the few actions we tried in their half.

Yet, we continued to play for a draw, refusing to even try to attack. I think France was not hard to beat, if only we've tried. But we didn't, and wasted a possible chance to win against what might be the worst team in our group.

The worst player on the field was imo Cocis, the only midfielder that was supposed to be a bit "offensive" in our starting 11. Not only he didn't create anything, but he lost a lot of balls allowing the French to counterattack. I have no idea why this guy was even selected for the tournament.

Bottom line - we need to score goals and win at least one game to qualify further. And there's no way we can do that if Piturca starts again with two defensive midfielders + Cocis.

But I'm confident that he won't - the Italians will be so desperate in the next game and we can exploit that with a few creating players in the team. Hai Romania!

But as Mehmet Scholl just pointed out on German TV, even if Ribery switches flanks, Malouda just stays put, being useless on the left and exposing the right flank.he was useless. govou would have been a much better choice.

How is Abidal ahead of Evra on this performancenot on this performance... the problem is just when pat looked to pass up abi during prep matches he flat out disappeared for 90'.

Abidal + Malouda = a useless left side.malouda and abidal leaving OL, and for two different clubs, was a losing proposition for all concerned. what made them great was the way they played together, and now that's broken forever.

51st minute, Sagnol commits the dumbest foul of the tourney so far, but it doesn't cost them.in hindsight, another poor choice. against paraguay clerc had probably the finest prep match of any bleu including gomis. domenech decided to go with all the veterans, and these three let him down tragically.

Two dms cant work in a 4-4-2 without a forward. Playing two strikers means no one is coming short for the ball.Ideally, Ribéry and Malouda should run to the centre to pass to the strikers.this is the way it was obviously planned to work, going by the prep matches; kéké and toule were only supposed to connect with flo and ribéry; once these two drifted wide (due in part to the fecklessness of abidal and sagnol) it was the sahara desert between the front and the back.

Great result. Hai Romania!Romania obviously played for a 0:0 drawI actually think Romania cheated themselves. They could have beaten France today ... I think they sold themselves short by drawing against the weakest team in the group.yes. HOW was this a good result for romania? they'll have to get points somewhere, do they really think they'll be better able to do it against NL or italy? that said, if they had played to win france's job might have been easier, they're not as weak as you think, especially when you leave them a little space. but that was the risk piturca had to take, unless his objective is 3rd place.

I think the French are prob. rooting for Italy now.now that is quite a reach! anyone want to clue FNU in? ;)

I would respect the French Football Federation if they benched every starter from Monday except the goalie for lack of national spirit to make a point.

Let the chips fall where they may.

Easily, we're still in contention to advance. This group is so tight (or it was thought to be) that it would probably go down to the final day and there wasn't much seperating the teams. There was no need to go out all out and try and play attacking football against a team that is just overall much stronger. Romania are by no means a weak side, but by not conceding and showing the other teams that they came to play they did their job for the first game. A draw against Italy wouldn't be a horrible result either. With France playing Holland it could easily have us in 2nd place heading into the final day against an already qualified Dutch team.

[Romania] heading into the final day against an already qualified Dutch team.that's the fly in the ointment that occurred to me last night, too.

You think so????

Or if we beat France then vBasten will start his "b-team", which means Huntelaar will play the full 90 min. Things could get very ugly for Romania in a hurry.
Holland may decide to put on a show and start scoring goals for fun.

Do you really want that????

Ugly in a hurry? How many goals did Huntelaar score in the game in Rotterdam he started?

Start scoring goals for fun? You mean the way they did in qualifying?

So you'll all of a sudden turn it on against the same team that handcuffed you twice?

That argument may be great for teams like Bulgaria, Belarus, and Slovenia but when a team gave you nothing for 2 games it's a little outrageous to expect to just cut them open.

apparently just came a cropper... that's going to make about a 15M€ shortfall in ajax's summer sales figures!

If referring to Huntelaar he was prolly gonna leave Ajax anyways this summer.
Also I dont think his injury is serious

i meant that a good showing in a tournament like this adds a lot of value to a player. if KJH scores 4 or 5 goals he'll be worth 15M€ more than if he doesn't play.

Ah yes, and Ajax need the money, trust me on that :o
