Well, just got home, seems i was right with my prediction, 0-0 :D
While the result is decent, I can't help but feel we're still prisoners to our "underdog" status. Bringing the first true offensive midfielder on '91 says alot about your attitude. Unfortunately you can't really hope to go on with just draws, so a bit more courage would be welcomed.
So, all in all, the game was about two teams that are great defensively, playing in a somewhat similar way, canceling each other out. With the Netherlands leading 2-0 at break, it's gonna be a totally different 2nd match, for all teams. We'll meet an offensive Italy, looking for a win, while Holland will find a victory-hungry France. This might be a plus for us, seeing how we'll be able to play our counterattack game against the italians, and a victory from the Netherlands in their game against France would mean they'd take the last game, against us, a bit easier prolly, to protect their main players from yellow cards / injuries.
Hai Romania!
italy will definetly attack in the game against us and i think we'll play much better in this posture. also with the emotions and over-concentration of the first game passed i think we will have a much better passing game in attack. Dica and Cristea will be great for the Italy game.
Hai Romania! :)

This match was boring. Good game from Romania...
France will have to take more risks if they want to qualify.

Yet another idiotic post from you. Some of you people on this forum need to get a life. If you want to post on this forum, post if you have something to say, not to start or continue flaming wars against other members.
Having said that, good start for Romania. It was important that we didn't lose and that we managed to stop all their star players. If we get the offense going, we can go through alongside the dutch (or whoever else ends up being). The atmosphere was fantastic, especially during our National Anthem.
Hai Romania!

This match was boring.
Indeed.
Romania obviously played for a 0:0 draw ... and easily managed to get the result due to a very uninspired performance from the French midfield & attack (only Ribery was really dangerous)!
Good defending from both teams, but the attacking game was very poor from both sides (at least the French tried to create some pressure after the interval).
Well, it was a tactical game ... so I'm curious how they are going to play against Holland & Italy.
PS: Great support from the Romania fans! :) I bet that half of them don't live in Romania, though. :-)

Great result.
If a draw is a "great" result ... what would a win be in your eyes? ;)
But I agree that this draw is a very respectable result for the outsider of the group!
France will have to take more risks if they want to qualify.
Romania, too.

I actually think Romania cheated themselves. They could have beaten France today but I guess some of the players were intimidated by them being a "big team" and were just out there trying not to lose. I guess they thought they could do okay against Italy and beat Holland and advance. I think they sold themselves short by drawing against the weakest team in the group.

Worst game of the tournament. By far. Dreadful. Romania are perhaps happy with a point, but neither team should be happy with how it was played. Ugh.

What a disappointing game. The whole flow of the game was killed everytime we could've countered but decided to stop at mid-field and play pass around the back. Are passing was horrible and the result was not that great to be honest. The Dutch were playing the Italians and they went for it, we didn't, shame.
Hopefully we will show up to play an offensive game against the Italians and Piţurcă, actually puts Dica in from the start.

You are right.Romania played an awful offesive game against an average team that didn't deserve the point they've got out of it.I hope they regain their footing against the italians. And I pray they will not have the same strategy , because three draws will probably not get them through; or... will it?...

let's face it: romania is the worste team I've seen so far... ok france is even worse
we'll never make it: no disrespect implied but we are so absolutly screwed  we need a miracle
although I bet on holland and france, I changed my mind today: romania and holland willgo further...
again:I am so ashamed but yet impressed by the netherlands

Don't get too low on it... they will both improve in the games coming up.On the other hand I think the italians will look better also, which would be bad news...If things stay the same there's a good probability your prediction will be correct.

which probability? holland and romania? (cause I was just talking bitter: romania will not go further) holland is moving on: 1 win, and not a small one! those f***ers ;)
but after that, it's going to depend on france's game next friday: either we beat the crap of the dutch :( either we screw it again and bet on multiple draws (raymond's style)

Bitter or not, you were right.France has no chance against the dutch, as things stand right now.Romania has the advantage of being more familiar with their game, from the qualifiers. The big question is Italy: was that real what we saw today, or just a slow start? they are known to be perennial slow starters...

you are absolutly right: what is Italia's really value this year? that's the real question, even though they never deserved that slap tonight IMO
but as far as I am concerned (as most of the french) we are so fed up with domenech we almost (alomst ) wish france doesn't make it out of the group so that we get rid of him...
of course if we could win and he would resign at his peak, that would be even better

Romania didn't cheat themselves.
They had a mission. DO NOT LOSE THE FIRST GAME. Seems like they accomplished that quite nicely. Romania stood toe to toe with a "big team" in qualifying and got 4 points. They've also had some great results against "big teams" over the last few years. Keeping it tight at the back and making sure you're not in a deep hole after 1 matchday is smart. France were handcuffed the whole match just as the Dutch were in both qualifying games. Tight defense will always win out, and that's what Romania has.
I'm sure in the Italy game we'll see more attacking from Romania. Playing D.Niculae was a mistake as he isn't very fast and also did a poor job of holding the ball when it came to him.

I'm not sure I entirely agree with your prediction about France's chances against Holland. You are absolutely right that, after comparing the two sides performances yesterday, the Dutch look exponentially the better side. But Holland didn't manage to beat Romania in their qualifying group either, actually lost to them 1-0 in their first encounter. I think the Dutch mentality of open, attacking football actually plays to France's strengths. It should be an exciting match, less strategic and defensive minded than the painful to watch France-Romania game today. Also, Henry and Vieira should be back, with hopefully Evra replacing Abidal. I admit this game was utterly uninspiring today, but France did the same vs. Switzerland and Korea 2 years ago and we all saw where we ended up after that!! There is hope!!!
