Plans are underway to copy the MyFC/Ebbsfleet takeover north of the border by setting up a club in the Junior leagues
Kenny Morrison, a St Mirren supporter from Paisley, has been given the go-ahead to adopt the model of Ebbsfleet United, who have become the first club in the world to be owned and operated by cyber-fans.
I'm a big fan of fan ownership/supporters models myself, but have never been comfortable with the idea of MyFC buying an existing club which they have had no previous link too. What has intrigued me through is the possibility of reviving Third Lanark as a new club in the West Coast Junior leagues.
Third Lanark officially no longer exist, though an amatuer club have been given permission in the past year to use the name and they have been playing regular matches at Cathkin Park.
So what are the thoughts here on reviving one of the original 'Glasgow giants'?

I hate the MyFC idea and would be dead against them getting their hands on any Scottish League club. I think it'd be a good idea to get Third Lanark up and going again though.

I'm a member and to be honest I've not really done much with it yet but it is pretty interesting. You really need to give it a bit of time. So far for Ebbsfleet it has only been good. Lets see what happens when people vote on something the manager is totally against.

To be honest, it looks kind of interesting from the buyers side but I'd be fuming if it ever happened at East Fife, so I'd imagine that any other league side in Scotland would be against it.
Maybe it also workd better to take a really small team (within a pyramid structure) rather than a more established league club.

They could never afford a league side, although they did contact clubs in SFL2/3, only one responded though (Cowden) with a quote of £3 million.
The two current options (should they raise funds) are Maryhill Juniors and Third Lanark amateurs.
Here's the statement from the website:
MyScotFC (My Scottish Football Club), like societies such as MyFootballClub, MySoccerClubUSA and other more club specific trusts will be based around a yearly subscription. Currently, the opinion is that a fee of £35 will be sufficient and that a portion of that will go towards admin. Like a lot of other factors, this could depend purely on the level of football MyScotFC become involved in.
General Aims:
Take on a club at whatever level of Scottish football becomes viable.
Ownership of the ground not a priority.
Develop the club's overall structure.
Develop the profile of the club within the local Community.
Offer the fans a chance to come onboard and make a difference.
Develop initiatives and promote the club worldwide.
The MyScotFC website:
As well as a forum and chat room, we hope to offer MyScotFC members the chance to submit articles and even contribute to the overall content of the site. The official website of the club we take on will still be home to the standard features, whilst the MyScotFC one will see any streaming media. We hope to bring all members interviews with the coaching staff, players, match footage and audio. We will endeavour to offer live audio coverage of matches and delayed full match footage, it may be that this will not be entirely deliverable. The MyScotFC website will also be home to any voting, this is where the real power will come from and how all major club decisions will be made. As noted above, this will be subscription based and the MyScotFC website will offer members the ability to make extra donations should they feel it necessary.
You, the prospective MyScotFC member, will be able to become as involved as you wish. From delivering development proposals and initiatives to working on things such as a club magazine or website features the power will be in your hands. If you have coaching qualifications then you could become involved there too and, perhaps, one day we will actually run both the club and make up the coaching team. It's an exciting prospect and we at MyScotFC hope you'll take the journey with us.

Sounds pretty fun but is it open to people outside Scotland or the UK? If they had that hear in the midwest I would be in for it. :)

Here was me thinking there was an amateur team called Third Lanark doing the business. I watched them play a couple of times last summer.
I agree with your point Gordon. While fan participation is a good idea in theory I think it's got trouble written all over it when it comes to the practice.
If anything the entire Scottish league structure needs plumbed from 'top' to 'bottom'. I use commas because some teams at the 'top' have no right to any claims to ascendancy or the respect that might carry. Gangsters.

Aye, sorry, I meant into the league again, after they get themselves a bit more establshed in the non-leagues.

Fort William FC could be taken over by an American US TV tycoon.(they haven't agreed to the deal yet, and claim not to know much about it)
they'll then be used the same way as Ebbsfleet with Americans paying a subscription for rights to the team and a fly-on-the-wall documentary being filmed as the team progresses in true Rocky style from a small team stuck at the bottom going nowhere to being in the champions league final in 10yrs time...
The website of Mr McDonald's TV company, PMAC Tonight, describes the project as a "high-concept reality (television] show that involves replacing the current players of a Scottish soccer team with American players and putting America in total control of the team's destiny … (which] will transform the world of fantasy sports by turning the fantasy into reality".
