What would you do.

If I were the next Chelsea manager, my first order of business would be to see the players one on one.At this meeting I would be letting them know that I'm in charge, anything that is to be said to the media will be first brought to me and anything that is said by the Captain on the field will be as if from me.

I will not raise my voice, but I will not repeat anything I have said again.
Ever!
I do not demand, or even require for that matter, your respect, but if I don't have it, you must leave.
Now.

If you cannot work with me in this, you must leave.
Now.

I want my own players and my demands are that Ashley Young, David Bentley and Dimitar Berbatov are in Blue by the weekend following my appointment.
I want to keep Belletti, I like his direct style and it will be the way we are going to play now, although I realise he can be defensively weak at times.I will keep Ferriera for competition and the better man in training will start.
Ferriera will play in important away matches in Europe, where struggling 'not to lose' shall be at the forefront, as it is with just about every team.I will just be open and honest and call a spade a spade.

I expect my centerhalves to maintain composure and any mindless freekicks given away will be punishable by fines at first, loss of starting position soon to follow.Football is not an exact science I realise, but challenging from behind just outside the box is moronic and totally unacceptable.

My full backs will at all times be aware of where the opposition player in the middle of the park that does not have the ball is angling his run to receive it.I shall not tolerate balls in behind the defense on the wings.
Ever.

I shall also expect them to be ready to overlap when the occasion arrises, failure to do so will result in substitition.
Regardless of time of game.

I want a new keeper by seasons start, a tall young player, one that will study under Cech.
Cudicini will be let go, I am tired of cringing eveytime a cross enters our box.

I will make little to no changes in the midfield, it has functioned well these past years.
I will, however, insist that the ball over the top is a last option now, and that my wide men stay wide for the most part, if not the whole of the game.If you continue to cut inside when the option to take it down the wing is on, or indeed the option to pass it to an overlapping full back is on, you will be substituted.

If I see you square passing when a forward pass is on, you will be fined.
If I see static midfielders forcing other players into unwanted, but unaviodable square passes, you will be fined.

In this modern game, you are expected to be super fit, capable of near endless movement for the entire game.
This does not mean endless running, just simply movement at a canter will do...but movement is necessary.
Your diet will be strictly monitored.
If you cannot work with me on this, you must leave.
Now.

The intended system for the upcoming season will be a loose 4/4/2.

I have always found it highy amusing that a player has suddenly 'changed position' or is 'being played out of position' if he moves but 10 feet one way or the other.

By 4/4/2 I mean that we will always try to have two forwards on the pitch, with two players capable of playing wide in the middle behind them.
If I ever...ever...see my forwards out by the corner flag picking up a 'pass', those that are 'passing' it will soon be substituted.I do not want to see my forwards crossing into the box, I expect them to be in there on the end of it.

Some hard decisions will be made.

Peter Kenyon will be told I'll punch him in the mouth if he makes a mess of any need I request, he'll also be kicked in the bollocks if he ever fails to re-sign a player I require.

Lampard will be told he is no longer allowed to take free kicks and the next time he fails to clear the first man with a corner kick ,he'll no longer do that either.

Mikel will be told that the next red card he gets for a poor challenge will be his last act as a Chelsea player, I'll also insist that he display, on a far more consistant basis, this supposedly superior quality we engaged in that 'orrid tug of war with Man U because of.

SWP, Sidwell, Pizza, Sheva will be told not to bother sitting down upon entering the room, as they are leaving the club.
Thanks, don't let the door do you know what...

I require Gianfranco Zola as my assistant.

Training shall consist of ball work and movement to recieve passes.
Emphasis shall be placed on threading the ball through to forward moving players.

If I see any of my players, besides my Captain, badger the ref, they wil be docked a weeks wages.Players will be allowed to interact with the ref, but displays such as have been the norm of late will be financially harmful from now on.

These are the things I shall start with.

Too bad you've completely ignored the fact that we signed Bosingwa.

Personally, I don't know what the ******** I would do. I haven't been trained, or brought up as a good footballer all my life. So it would be highly difficult for me or anyone here to offer a good opinion because none of us have any experience managing any kind of semi-pro team.

I think you are missing the purpose of Clans post.

btw Clan, when can I set up your interview with Roman?

In a way. But how are you going to ignore Bosingwa?

perhaps it slipped his mind

he is fecking old you know

but its more of a "this is what I would do"

if I have read through some of the delusional crap in the transfer thread, I will at least extend Clan the same respect with his Champs. Manager version of Chelsea and quite frankly I agree with nearly all of it.

Also notice at the top, it says "What would you do"

no worries. Feel free to post your thoughts as I believe Clan was trying to open this up for a good discussion/debate with either the slow times of the summer or the rankles of the insane transfer market keeping things interesting on this board.

nice idea Clan. If that wasnt your purpose, then take credit anyways.

No, you nailed it Fern.

I struggle to read through most of the bollocks on here these days...English posters can't grasp vision...FFS!

You know, you're lucky, as a mod I can't put anyone on ignore...

I would also bench Lampard, and Joe Cole. They lack vision and technique. Then, we should sign Ribery for 60 million.

Warning, the following post contains little or no sarcasm. Seriously.

I'm very much in agreement with you Mr Clan.
Discipline, check.
My team my rules, check.
No harrassing the ref, check.
Advising Kenyon to keep his nose out, check.
Couple of exciting signings (including someone who can take a corner FFS), check.
Zola to influence the playing staff, check.
Loose 4-4-2, check.

I would also ensure there's no sniping/politiking from the staff (Arnesen will be lucky to stay if he moves beyond scouting).

I would have immediate talks with the key players and get in their head as to what they want Chelsea to be for them. If it's a steeping stone, they're gone, I want commitment not wishy washy bullcrap. If you understand that you must be willing to fight for a spot and that teams will be chosen on the basis of who we are playing and who is in form, you can stay. If you half ass it in training (unlikely with Zola there) you will be warned.

With regards to younger players, I would not start anyone under the age of 20 (maturity and experience will be essential to ensure less 'Mikel' moments of madness, though obviously not get rid of them completely) and would ensure all starlets have a season under their belts at Championship level at least (or overseas at say PSV). If they do not fit into my plans I would not piss about and would sell them for maximum value.

When buying I will not pay 200% of worth just because we are Chelsea. I would pay a little above market value to get them but we will no longer be fleeced.

I would get the media on side but not give too much away. I don't want to have to deal with the daily attacks like Jose, but I don't want to be an emotional basket case like Keggers and O'Neill.

I would learn Russian and involve Roman in my thought processes so he doesn't start second guessing me like he did Jose.

That's it for now :)

The only thing I would do different from Clan is to keep Cudicini. Cech is utter and I mean utter shite at penalties and Cudicini has proven that he can save them.

I do agree that when a cross comes in I start going mad. The keeper we should bring in is Rhys by the way.

I really dont think Cech will ever be substituted in a shootout, nor should we have a sub left after 120+ minutes of action.

Penalties in general I mean. (Flashes back to Cudicini saving Henry's penalty).

Right, but the point is that penalties against us are rare enough that we'll never be able to predict when they're coming and put Cudi in there. It's better to have him than Cech in net if we happen to concede one, but we'll never plan for that so his strength against penalties is rather a moot point. Cech is better in every other area.
