We know spain will win the group, but second could go to anyone.

When i first saw this group i thought boring boring, but second place should be totally up for grabs. I really have no idea who to pick for second, but i think ill go for sweden. Sweden had less than impressive results in the qualifiers, but they always manage to squeak into the next round. Greece finished top of their group, but the just lost to Hungary 3-2 which put me off. As for Russia, theyre lucky to be there, and ill think theyll finish with one pt, from a draw with greece.

spain will finish on top, but every other team can reach rank 2. but i think, russia can do it.

It's not a given that Spain will finish first, but it's a good bet. I think Russia will finish second.

Yeah, I don't see it as a given that Spain will come first or even second in the group. Anything can happen, and if the Spanish get to cocky they could have a rude surprise. Worse upsets have happened.

Tough call here. I'd have to go with Greece.

Russia because of Hiddink. He might finally have instilled some heart in that gifted bunch of under-achievers. Plus, let's face it, it's Russia's year, what with the UEFA cup and Eurovision...

Sweden and Greece have not been very impressive lately and with a different coach, Russia would have been my bet for fourth place. It will be a close group, except for Spain who I expect to walk right over all the others.

What? Are Greece the Rodney Dangerfields of International Soccer!

They are the only team that cracked 30 points in winning their group from accumulated wins and draws I believe and that was after a slow start losing to Turkey 4-1!

Reigning Champs of Europe, but the BBC picks Greece to flop and so did the Guardian, one of them even in last place. OK, Russia has Hiddink with his accolades with S. Korea and Australia and that is a good point. The Guardian goes as far as to say Russia advancing will defeat the group (C.) of death opponent which I think is farfetched, but good reading for those pulling in the other direction.

I say, Greece advances not being fully convinced but I think so! 2nd!

And I am another who says, Spain a shoe-in for first, like when you know that Brazil is going to win their group in the last world cup; dominating.

I wouldn't underestimate Greece, but anybody will tell you that 2004 was an anomaly. Recently losing to Hungary and drawing Armenia doesn't point to great form, but maybe I'm unfair since I didn't watch anything of those matches and I don't really know the exact circumstances.

For what it's worth, I believe Greece's style of play suits Sweden pretty well. Put pressure on Sweden and I'm afraid the Swedish house of cards will fall apart. I don't think Greece can do that, but Russia might, and Spain goes without saying.

I think you did the math wrong here, it doesn't add up.

Last World Cup Group Stage:

Spain 4 Ukraine 0
Spain 3 Tunisia 1
Spain 1 Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 0

Sure, they did have problems in the last Euro Cup.
