Croatia is the team on everyone's lips, but I think the Turks will beat them. I just haven't been that impressed. They beat a terrible Austria team on a penalty, beat Germany in the worst match they've played in recent memory

If Croatia and Germany meet in semis,Germany will loose not becouse they will play bad but becouse Croatia is just a better team.

Guess what,he was right,your defence sucks(except Lahm), midfield is good but not better and more talented than Croatian and your attack is better only becouse Eduardo isnt playing.

Actually, after today, I agree.

All the gloom and doom coming from the Germany fans (myself included) had convinced me otherwise, but this was my prediction before the tournament began (well, before Cannavaro's injury at least), and now I'm back to it.

Croatia won a (non cruical) game vs germany, thats ok and respect to croatia (im half croatian myself).
But seriously, get real. Germanys defence doesnt "suck", its overall solid, Jansen was the only weak point and he got replaced with Friedrich who is a very good defender (though his main position is CB but he plays a good FB too like one could see today).
Its now the same defence that played a good WC.
The midfield is also stronger when Löw uses a proper formation. Fritz belongs on the bench and there is he now replaced by quality = Rolfes (very underrated player despite being the best DM/CM in the Bundesliga).
And Frings and Ballack are for sure already at a level where guys like Modric and Rakitic have yet to get.
They have for sure the potential to do that but for the moment i for sure rate the german midfielders more.
The strikers of germany are of course also overall better, its bad lucky for germany that Gomez has its worst time as footballer at such a time but then there are still ppl like Podolski, Klose and Kuranyi, all proven players at the international stage.

Like i said, im also croatian and i think that croatia is a very good team but to say croatia is better as germany is simply exeggaration, the croatiam team has still a lot to prove and you cant denie that germany simply played crapped (tactics were one reason but the team seemed overall to take the game too easily).

Germany vs. Italy in the final. Netherlands will proabably get upset vs. Russia, if not then there is ZERO chance they beat Italy two times in a row. Spain are scared shitless to play Italy. They will fold to Italy and it could be a massacre. The Spanish defenders are going to get rocked all night long. On the other side of the bracket basically the same thing. I can't see Croatia beating Germany twice in a row, while Turkey probably has no chance at all of beating Germany....even though they have many ties to the country with all those damn Turks that live in Germany. Germany & Italy are turning it on at the perfect moment. Germany will win it.

Every year it is the same. Always the silly underestimation of the German team. I havent realy made up my mind yet whether it is wishthinking or pure patriotic blindness.

If Germany faces Croatia in the semi finals then this will be a whole new game and no previous match will have any indication power whatsoever. The outcome is still open! Can a star like Ronaldo fly just because he is famous?

Turkey's the cinderella team and I think midnight is approaching. I simply cannot see Turkey beating them. Germany are far too solid.

Ridiculous defense by the Croatians. On the last kick of the game, I can't think of anywhere else to be other than in front of my own Penalty area and GK to stomp any last gasp passes or shots. THAT should never have happened. They have only themselves to blame.

It reminded me of the last 20 seconds of the ITA-GER semifinal in 2006...only this time there was no Croatian Cannavaro to step up and clear the ball. tsk tsk.

I am hoping (and expecting) for a Italy v Germany final as we will be guaranteed an exciting final challenged by the 2 best footballing teams in Europe.

Remeber WC06, Italy v Germany was by far the most exciting game and the semi final between the same two in the 1970 WC has been considered to be the game of the century! (my agreement has nothing to do with the fact that Italy won both :rolleyes:).

Personally I believe anyone who underestimates Germany in any competition has no idea about football and is really fooling themselves.
