Well, now that we've gotten past the group stages, Italy could very well make the finals. Not likely, but still mathematically possible.

Mathematically? There is no math about this.
Unless you want to say on a '2-0' score that '2' is great than '1', other wise, it's all about performance, dicipline, goals and a little bit of luck.
They win, they go on, they win, they go on, they lose they go home!

do not insult the croats, they have far more to their game then greece ever have.
no insult intended, I meant the 'dark horse' of this tournament..
a Germany - Holland final would be epic, especially if Holland wins..:p

"not likely" why?
Group stage performance doesn't mean very much, they have the same level of player-skill as Spain and Holland, and they're a team full of esperienced winners.
They're also a country that traditionally wins while Spain and Holland are countries that traditionally lose in important games, which always seems to be a good indication.
The only thing is that Pirlo is out for the quarterfinal, but that might be balanced by the fact that Gattuso is also out.
The Dutch need to stop acting like they're already european champions just because they had 3 good group stage games, it's like they've never watched a tournament before.

The Dutch need to stop acting like they're already european champions just because they had 3 good group stage games, it's like they've never watched a tournament before.IMO most of the Netherlands fans aren't even coming close to that. There's enough in our first three games to celebrate, even if we lose in the QFs (though that would be a shame).
Btw, about Croatia...definitely class. What's scary is they're doing this without one of their best players, Eduardo.
Out of all the teams who've made it to the elimination stages so far, only Turkey seems to be lacking class players. And what they might lack in class, they more than make up with heart and effort.

Turkey has class, but their two central midfielders, possibly the two most important players, seem to be out for the quarterfinal.
Defensive and skillful Aurelio and the playmaker Emre.
With those two in the team i'd have given them like a 50/50 chance against Croatia.

If Germany starts playing better I can see a Germany-Netherlands or possibly a Germany-Spain final.

What i want,
Croatia vs Netherlands.
Because lose the final by the Croatians wont hurt as much as losing against Portugal, Germany and the Turks.
We lose to much against Germany and Portugal, and when Turkey win, i cant get no sleep because all those Turks and Maroccs keep me awake with pushing their horns and screaming out of their carrwindows (like the did after Tjechie - Turkey).;)

Anything really could happen but I really don't see either Croatia or Turkey representing the A-B side of the tournament in the finals, the winner of the Portugal v Germany game will make it to the finals, in my oppinion.

lol i wonder why!! :D
If Croatia wins against Turkey and gets Germany in semis they'll have a good chance for finals, otherwise if we get Portugal the chances will not be good for us.
The only team that can stop Netherlands from advancing to finals is Spain. They can hope Italy will beat Spain.

Croatia - Holland
I don't know how Croatia will get past Portugal, but it just seems like they have the unity and concentration to do it.
As for Holland, they will have a tough game with Spain but in the end Spain will be more tired after a bruising game against hard tackling Italy.

You guys know Russia can win right? ;) I know it's unlikely and chances are Holland will win, but anything can happen in football. I think that could turn into a great touch match.

Croatia is the team on everyone's lips, but I think the Turks will beat them. I just haven't been that impressed. They beat a terrible Austria team on a penalty, beat Germany in the worst match they've played in recent memory, and then beat a Polish team that is just not very good. Their midfield is good, but their strikers aren't that scary and their center backs could be cut be taken to pieces by a couple of quick little forwards.
I'm hoping for Portugal - Spain, or Holland - Germany.
lol maybe your luck will finally change. :D

I stand by what I said before... I'm predicting an Italy - Germany final for sentimental reasons and also because that matchup has produced some fantastic games in the past (it's like we inspire the best in each other).
Likelihood of that happening? Not as high as I would like it to be on Italy's part, and Italy and Germany will most likely have to plow through teams that have embarrassed them in the past (Holland and Croatia) to reach the finals...
But I find it hilarious that so many people on this forum are practically congratulating Spain on their victory against Italy... you would think they would know better than to count Italy out of any game.
