Just saw this on the CSA website.

http://www.canadasoccer.com/tourney/FIFA_WC/national.asp?top=banner_m&sub=2

This is likely the same lot that will be called in for the WC qualifiers against SV&G in a few weeks.

One name I find conspicuously absent is David Edgar. I'm sure I'm missing something as to why this is, anyone care to enlighten me? I'm guessing Occean is putting club over country.

That said, who will be the starting 11?

My guess:

Sutton
Stalteri
Brennan
Hastings
Cann
DeRosario
deGuzman
Hutchison
Serioux
Radzinski
Friend

Edit: oops, didn't see this covered in the other thread until I posted this. Still, it's atopic unto its own.

Edgar = hernia op

Probably would not have been called anyway. Conspicuously absent are McKenna, Hume and Occean but likely not for reasons to fear for WCQ.

Cann to start? Likely a last minute callup to replace McKenna (provide cover)

Ouch, looks like it'll be a while before Edgar makes his debut with the senior team. Considering how well he's doing with Newcastle he'll be a great addition when he's ready.

I forgot that commitment from players will be bigger for the WC qualifiers. This is our best chance to make the WC since 1986, getting the best possible squad outto every game is imperetive.

Hmm, they said on the Toronto/Montreal match that Jim Brennan was skipping the friendly against Brazil to play against the Galaxy on Saturday.

Not surprising since TFC is playing so many games lately, and add to that he and Sutton will miss the game against Colorado on the 14th to play for Canada in the qualifier on the 15th (I hope!).

If either of Cann or Peters starts, Mitchell will have convinced me that he is not interested in fielding the best 11, just the 11 HE likes best.

Tks to jpg75 at Vs (http://www.canadian-soccer.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=15433&whichpage=4) for news (from DM conference call) to clear up some questions here.

- McKenna (also) has a hernia injury. Hume has an ankle injury. Hirschfeld is not in camp either, he has been suffering from a back injury for the past few months and was seeing a doctor in Germany and is now back in Edmonton.

- Tam is not eligible to play during official matches. Situation is not resolved, but DM wanted to get him back in mixing with the team. He can play in friendlies however and will see PT during these games against BRA and PAN.

If he were healthy, Edgar at the very least would have been the replacement for McKenna.
