Or you could have just started one called "The Polish Squad"... ;)
A mod will have to rename it though, I don't think I can do that...

Star striker, Brazilian-born Roger Guereirro, who plays for Legia Warsaw and received Polish citizenship on 17 April made the final cut after receiving the green light from world football's governing body FIFA to play for Poland

I'd say "on paper" that's the strongest all around squad in this group. Thankfully the games are played on the pitch, not on paper....

I don't know a lot about the Roger situation, but I do think that there's a difference between Podolski and Klose who came to Germany at a very young age (Podolski was two, Klose eight years old) grew up here and learned to play football here, opposed to say Paolo Rink who only became a German citizen because he would have never been called up to play for Brazil.

This reminds me of how the Swiss press and players talked about Germany before the recent friendly (clearly underestimating the quality of the squad). Chances are you're in for a little surprise.

I don't think Croatia is better "on paper" than Germany. No way.

Not only that but both Klose and Podolskis families from Silesia came on the grounds of having German roots to Germany in the 80ties like many mixed families.

Stop already!!! There are very few "mixed" families: it all goes back to the war and the German imposed caste system. In the 70's and early 80's many Polish families left Poland For West Germany in order to partake of better economic situation. In my kindergarten, in the early 1970's for instance, we came to school one day to find out that a QUARTER of our school was gone. Everyone knew that every other person in Poland could find a "German" ancestor if they looked hard enough (yes, even my family, even though the Germans killed both of my my grandfathers). But for many it was an issue of honor, and so they didn't leave. For others, well, it was their choice, and we can judge them if we feel like it,and so we do when it comes to the supposed Germans such as Klose, Podolski and Trochowski.
I don't want this match to be political, but for many reasons it can't be avoided...and I so I don't think there is anything wrong with that, it adds a certain kind of spice to the tournament, the way it did two years ago.

Well, what you write is not political, its personal. If you feel that the Podolskis, Kloses and Trochowskis acted dishonorable, then why do you even care, that their kids play for Germany?
They grew up in Germany and they learned to play football here. That's reason enough to play for Germany. They may or may not have had German ancestors, but that's a non sequitur. Arguing about that would be chasing a 19th century illusion. Nationality has never been about "blood".
It's not as obvious in Europe as it is in America, but it's still true. The blood in your veins doesn't define your nationality.

Judging from you're favourite club though, you're not from Silesia like Klose and Podolski. Silisia has (or had) quite a large German minority, especially Opole, where Klose is from.
To stay on the personal level: When I was in third grade, my class got a new student, who's family had moved to my German hometown from Poland. And believe it or not, his family was (and still is) very much German.
