It wasn't a PK in the first game that the host nation is playing.

Anybody who doesn't understand that doesn't understand futbol
Er... what?

The Croatian teams looked unfit. I don't think they can go far in this tournament.

I didn't like the way some of the Croatia players kept accentuating any contact. That was, frankly, embarrassing. Olic, in particular, seemed to think he was going to get the number of free-kicks he rolled over by when he was fouled and as for that 'I have a boo-boo on my face' when Pogatetz fouled him, requiring writhing in agony for several minutes...man, that was bad

Thats how Croatia is playing. Not fair but effective. Good actors, many jostles, dealing out blows.

And I know what I am talking about, I see Vastic (croatian originated) and N. Kovac play in Austrian League every week.

I hope that someday there are more referees on the field to stop that.

I agree with Tommy (scary, I know). But a yellow card is a yellow card. The ref shouldn't let it go just so the host country doesn't get a guy sent off.

Germany is better than Croatia. You cannot compare. The way Croatia is playing, they will not be kicking ANYONE'S butts.

Pogetetz should have been sent off, sure. But then look at the undeserved penalty given against them. What about that? Things happens. And the ref probbably realized he made a foolish mistake before and did not want to further harm the Austrians, who were supposed to be destroyed by the Croatians anyways.

Croatia haven't and couldn't do anything right after that penalty. I am disappointed by their display, however. I thought they would be a legitimate dark horse. This game looks like it will end 1-0 to Croatia. Winning against Austria on a dubious penalty ain't something to be proud of, ever.

Croatia certanly won't loose Germany now. Pogatetz was like waaaaaay over his head and he should have been sent off immediately by a direct red card, not a second yellow. He kicked Olic by feet and hands and the referee was a disgrace to the game. He didn't let the game to be played and every single thing was in favour of Austrians. Penalty?? How can someone say that wasn't a penalty???? It was clear as a day and he wasn't even near the ball. What are you talking about dude?Undeserved penalty? really funny

Jesus Christ! The referee stopped the game for Croats. Yes we played really disappointing and I expected something like that, but the referee???It was like, funny the way he compensated that he blew the obvious penalty against hosts. And did you even see the game against England? Not fair but effective?I cant believe that after this game someone can say Croats didn't play fair...Our boss of the Croatia 1. HNL community said during the game that he will send an appeal bucause of the referee's madness. I'm very happy with the win but Austrians really had us in the second half. I can surely tell you that four days from now against Germany, Croatia will show what is their real worth.

As I said: I see Vastic and N. Kovac play in the League every week. They are good actors, theatrical.

I am not talking about the ref. First yellow card of Pogatetz was because he criticized the ref, then I remembered one more foul of him where he could get a yellow card, but again Modric (?) too was fighting and then was rolling on the ground like he was about to die. Then there was nothing more while you could see the Croatians slapping and pulling in every situation. (In one situation Kovac even hit keeper Macho to the ground - yes, I have it on tape!)

But I am more mad about our ignorant head coach.

I really don't get what are you talking about. I see Croats play in England, Germany, France, I follow every player of ours. They sure are no actors and if someone did fell theatrically it was something that was done in the same way by the Austrians. Olic left his heart out there and was being badly hit a few times. It was more than obvious help from the ref. and I am so mad that these things happen in front of the whole world and you just can't do anything about it because they are hosts or a more powerfull country so it is logicall to everyone that they should get away with quite a lot.

Well if there is one good thing we can take from this game, its the fact that this result will end Hickersbergers coaching career for sure.

He made some really bad decisions, he does have some "favourites" he is absolutely obsessed with and his not going to remove them from the starting lineup.

Garics from Napoli is by far the better defender, and Korkmaz is way the best left midfielder we have, thats why he is playing for E. Frankfurt next year.

I really likes Prödls game, he is really young and i think he can make his way at Bremen. Pogatetz is and has always been a pretty "crazy" guy, but we do not have enough alternatives to remove Premier League Players.

The croatians probably deserved the win because of the first half, but with some luck we could have gotten away with a point in the end.

Finally a logical and a healthy opinion of the game...Cheers

I dont want to see Hickersberger anymore. Idiotic Line-Ups and tactics all the time.

Scharner is not in the squad but slow Aufhauser plays.
Säumel was completely overstrained, Leitgeb is much better.
Standfest is just a bad football player, but still he is on the field. Garics is much better.
There are even better strikers as Linz and Kienast.

Croatia was smarter. Austria not as bad as expected. The ref was okay, no team deserved a red card.

I'm afraid Pogatetz deserved three red cards but he was forgiven and I'm just glad it didn't affect the score. How can someone who has a yellow pull a player who passed him and then in the end kick him with both a leg and a hand. It was a direct red card and ref put his hand on the pocket and just changed his mind because he realized that he already gave a penalty against the hosts. He then whispered something to Pogatetz who miraculously never made a risky tackle after that through the rest of the game. I mean, someone who don't see that is BLIND

Thank you very much for that analysis. Could not have said it better.

austria deserved a draw imho.
Croatia have got nothing up front without eduardo. Not much physical presence in midfield either.
