Well, the 2.Bundesliga came to a close (without any Yanks going up or down), but there were still Regionalliga games this past weekend.

Grover Gibson went 90 for Rot-Weiss Ahlen and picked up a yellow. Ahlen lost to Eintracht Braunschweig 1-0, but they didn't have anything to play for. Even if they lose next week, Oberhausen would have to win and Fortuna Dusseldorf would have to make up a GD of 14. Meanwhile, Braunschweig is fighting for a spot in next year's 3.Bundesliga. Gibson joins the ranks of several Yanks who have fought their way up to the 2.Bundesliga on promotion teams, assuming he stays with Ahlen.

VfL Wolfsburg II picked up another win at Borussia Dortmund II, but it won't be enough to prevent a dead-last finish. Kamani Hill did not play, as he was off with the U23s. Wolfsburg II has one more game, but it's possible Hill has played his last match. I imagine he'll be looking for a new club since Wolfsburg manager has publically stated he's not in his plans.

Preston Zimmerman went 90 for HSV II as they won 2-1. He did not score. With 19 teams, HSV II is the one team whose season is over going into the last round. They'll be dropping down to the 4th level Regionalliga next season, which presents a dilemma for Zimmerman. He's behind a ton of talent at Hamburger, so he might be well served to move on. We know he already had a trial at Cercle Brugge, which would be a massive step up from Germany's 4th level.

David Yelldell went the usual 90 for Stuttgarter Kickers, whose derby with VfB Stuttgart II ended in a 1-1 draw.

Tim Merritt and FSV Oggersheim picked up their second win of the season over Hessen Kassel, 1-0. Merritt went 90. Oggersheim are still 22 points behind the second-to-last club.

No Steve Purdy for 1860 II.

Well, well. Just when I had almost given up on even bothering to check, Kenney Bertz started and scored for SV Elversberg in a 4-1 loss. It's his first appearance of the season.

Yelldell is being linked with a move to Koblenz, but this can only happen if Stuttgart don't qualify for the new 3. Bundesliga next season. If they do, Yelldell will still be under contract and Koblenz can only afford free agents. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/startseite/artikel/203710/
