Update: Palermo are very close to striking a deal to sign Milan-owned goalkeeper Christian Abbiati, Goal.com reports.
Analysis: Palermo has been looking for a new starting goalkeeper for a while. Their current starting goalkeeper, Alberto Fontana, is now 41-years-old and has played only 10 caps with a big European club. Abbiati is still owned by Milan but has spent the last three seasons on loan with other clubs. The former Italian international has a lot to prove after his disappointing end at Milan.
