33 years is referencing the last time Manchester City won anything major - not including promotion to the prem!
I think it was the League Cup they won back in the 80s - last major trophy they won
Its a City/Leeds hatred song!

they are only 50 miles apart - its a rivalry

Also, years and years ago there were civil wars between lancashire and yorkshire - called the Wars of the Rosses - not being from England I can not fairly say if thats the reason for the hatred, but its the start of a rivarly between these two counties!
Anyone from accross the pond can help me out with explaning that?
Also violence between the firms - in the 70s they fought a lot!
