In one years time all this will be a Tesco's
The finest team in the West of Scotland will this season celebrate a historic 3 in a row. That's right, by the end of 08/9 St. Mirren will have successfully survived three seasons amongst Scotland's footballing elite, in the highly respected and world renowned Scottish Premier League.
Gus Mcpherson, now beginning his fifth year in charge is looking set to become the clubs longest serving manager in the post-war era. Of course he'll need to hang on a couple of seasons if he wants that accolade, with both Bobby Rankin 1945-54 and Willie Reid 1954-61 tied on seven years in charge.
St. Mirren Park (Love Street) and it's surrounding land has now been sold onto a supermarket chain, and work is underway on the new ground just half a mile down the road.

Future home of SPL champions 2010/11
Hopefully now, if reports are to be believed, the club is fully liquid. With an estimated £1 Million pounds in the bank, and turning a healthy annual profit, the pressure will be on the current boss to make an impact in the SPL far ahead of the leagues financial cripples ICT and Kilmarnock. And there should be no excuses for not at least making a push for the top six post-split.
The first team squad is currently in the process of being gutted from the inside out and currently stands at:
St Mirren
End of season 2008-2009
Garry Brady
Craig Dargo
Mark Docherty
Andy Dorman
Will Haining

And breaking news already as St. Mirren just this minute announce a new signing...
http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/1849/010295367953100mb7.jpg
After passing a medical this morning, Dundee United midfielder Steven Robb agreed terms and signed a two year deal with St Mirren today - a deal that will see him part of the St Mirren family until the summer of 2010.
26-year-old Robb started his career with Dundee in 1999 where he had a loan spell with Raith Rovers early in the 2003-2004 season.
In the summer of 2006 Robb crossed the road to join Dundee United where he has spent the last two seasons.

I like the badge in the middle but that much red is a bit much imo. The home kit looks nice, move the badge to the center and its prefect. :)

I'm surprised St Mirren are sponsored by The Braehead since it is responsible for turning the town centre into a ghost town.

Oh we've had some stinkers, though the original 1880 kit still has to be the worst of the lot.

they're just thankful that Braehead managed to take on a good majority of the towns neds at weekends. Xscape is full of them.

The Braehead sponsorship actually gets the team free entry to Kevin Keegan's Soccer Circus, as you can tell with the increase of technical skill this season.

That is shame. Oh how I cannot stand Renfrew. At least Paisley has some redeeming features. Renfrew has none.

C'mon, Paisley AND Renfrenshire are great! :p :)
What do you think why my local town Fürth started a partnership with them...? ;)

In the latest news: It has just been confirmed by the club that Argentinian Left Back, Franco Miranda, has agreed to a one year extension of his loan deal. Franco established himself as a fan favourite last year, not though his skill (which is sorely lacking) but due to his tendency to stick the boot into opposition players. Hopefully we'll see more of that when St. Mirren face Celtic on the first game of the season.
http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/1010/010295367330600rn8.jpg
General Manager, Brian Caldwell, had this to say:
Franco is a flair player who has a very good work ethic - and it's worth remembering that he had played for 15 months straight by the end of last season - so in a similar situation to Andy Dorman we will almost certainly see his full potential next season. He adapted very well to the Scottish game last season and I'm sure he'll be all the better next season for that experience."
In other news, conformation of the LAST EVER league match at Love Street will be... wait for it... shameful debt cheats Motherwell. This has been scheduled for January 3rd, with the FIRST EVER match played at Greenhill Rd on January 31st against Kilmarnock. Inevitably both of these fixtures will be moved to suit bloody Setanta.

Saints on Track campaign gets underway
A group of 30 or so supporters made their way down to Paisley St. James station yesterday lunchtime, with the aim to raise local of awareness of a new campaign to have the rail halt renamed as Paisley St. Mirren.
http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/display.var.2376564.0.0.php
A good idea where everybody wins? The club will get it's name out and its profile slightly raised while Scotrail will no doubt get a whole lot of extra business every other saturday to what is currently a VERY underused station. Even better is that the Station sits right on the away end of the ground, so perfect for visiting supporters traveling by rail.
