View Full Version : Abramovich Passes the Buck...

I was thinking today about this past season, Grant's sacking and how the year unfolded.
I came to a conclusion: Chelsea came within a whisker of doing a treble this season. You can probably say Grant made mistakes in the League Cup Final. After hitting the woodwork twice, having a shot cleared off the line by Giggs and his captain slip while taking what would have been a winning penalty, you have to say he wasn't really responsible for the Champions League Final. And the league...got within two points of winning it, having taken over following a slow start from his predecessor.
Now we (Man U) beat them at the start of Avram Grant's reign and in hindsight, a win or a draw in that game for Chelsea would have been enough to take the league. Maybe if Mourinho had been around, we'd have beaten them anyway. I'd like to think so. But you can't deny the fact that the team were in shell-shock over that period with all that was going on and that the management reshuffle could have done them no good.
So for me, the person at Chelsea most to blame for this season's outcome was not Jose Mourinho or Avram Grant. It's the fault your impatient, spoilt, billionaire owner who cannot bear to see his expensive plaything lose a single game. He unnecessarily overreacted to a natural period of brief bad form (it happens sometimes Roman) and sent Chelsea's best manager of all time packing. If their is any justice in the world his actions will produce the same result as serial sack-aholic Jesus Gil's did for Athletico Madrid in the 90's. Failure and relegation.
This isn't a slam on Chelsea or their fan's, this is a slam on the pathetic morons who seem to buy a team thinking simply having expensive players guarantees success. If that were the case, I could manage Chelsea tomorrow.

This thread has about as much merit as one of Rio's report cards in his first year at Primary School.
Not a knock on you, just the pathetic moron fans of other clubs who think they have a passing clue about how Abramovich has set up Chelsea to fail.

Good for you.
I came to a conclusion: Chelsea came within a whisker of doing a treble this season.
Which, we failed in.
You can probably say Grant made mistakes in the League Cup Final.
:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Only in the League Cup final? Are you kidding me? In just about most every match when he's had a full squad he screws it up. Seriously, playing Anelka on the right wing on a consistent basis is retarded. We didn't buy him for it either. Then there's everybody's favorite, playing Essien at right back. The man subs when it's too late.
After hitting the woodwork twice, having a shot cleared off the line by Giggs and his captain slip while taking what would have been a winning penalty, you have to say he wasn't really responsible for the Champions League Final.
No one on here that I can recall has blamed Grant.
And the league...got within two points of winning it, having taken over following a slow start from his predecessor.
And had we won and you won, you would've won on goal difference.
Now we (Man U) beat them at the start of Avram Grant's reign and in hindsight, a win or a draw in that game for Chelsea would have been enough to take the league.
Or if we didn't draw to Spurs, Wigan, and Aston Villa we probably could've taken it!
Maybe if Mourinho had been around, we'd have beaten them anyway. I'd like to think so.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You were only able to beat us once and that was off a shock goal. And when you did beat us in that match you had to have one of our players sent off in order to win. Seriously, this is too ********ing funny.
But you can't deny the fact that the team were in shell-shock over that period with all that was going on and that the management reshuffle could have done them no good.
And I've been saying that for ages, although bad times can bring out the best in people. See Lampard.
So for me, the person at Chelsea most to blame for this season's outcome was not Jose Mourinho or Avram Grant. It's the fault your impatient, spoilt, billionaire owner
Roman is a lot smarter than you think, he didn't get to be a billionaire by being an idiot.
who cannot bear to see his expensive plaything lose a single game.
And yet Jose kept losing in the CL but he managed to stay didn't he? How strange!
He unnecessarily overreacted to a natural period of brief bad form (it happens sometimes Roman) and sent Chelsea's best manager of all time packing.
WHAT?! Mourinho left due to disagreements. Not because of a bad run of form.
If their is any justice in the world his actions will produce the same result as serial sack-aholic Jesus Gil's did for Athletico Madrid in the 90's. Failure and relegation.
BWHAHAHAHAHAH! Seriously? You think it'll happen to every team? Look at Real Madrid and how many managers they went through! They still stayed in the top ten.
This isn't a slam on Chelsea or their fan's, this is a slam on the pathetic morons who seem to buy a team thinking simply having expensive players guarantees success.
Most of the players bought before our title winning years were up and comers. The only two big names we bought then were Veron (Crap) and Crespo (Good). So far, our two big name signings have been Ballack (free) and Sheva (£30 million). And the only reason we pay so much is........ WE'RE ********ING LOADED! Shame on those clubs who want to get a big profit out of us because we have a lot of money! SHAME ON THEM! BAD CLUBS! BAD!
I can't wait for QPR to get promoted truth be told, because they're richer than us (Lakshimi Mitaal (20% investment), Bernie Ecclestone, and Flavio Briatore. Look them up.) and it'll be the same folks who complained about us. And QPR have already gone through their first manager.
If that were the case, I could manage Chelsea tomorrow.
And there is also the case that I could be related to Serge Gainsbourg. Bullshit.

See manure, arsenal, L'Puke want Grant to remain, because they know if The Blues find the right man, they can't beat Chelsea ever again. The only post that I have read that want Grant to remain or to come back are fans of these clubs. The love the bumbling one. So now they dread the choices that Roman has to come w/. Even if Jose comes back, fans of these teams will goto the church and light a candle for their beloved bums.

Barroldinho,
If it weren't for Roman, there might have been a Chelsea board to post on.
Think a bit harder next time.

What exactly has Roman done wrong?
He appointed a manager at short notice, about 2 days before one of the biggest matches of the season.
He let Mourinho buy, and then some. Sure he held him back for certain things, but you need limits and wouldn't want somebody spending your money on crap.

Just kidding. :D
I rather enjoy everyone ripping up the original post. ;)
As long as it stays away from personal attack territory - play on.

Funny....last season you still had "the right man" and we still beat you.

Funny....last season you still had "the right man" and we still beat you.Fair enough, but if that's your reasoning for Chelsea keeping Grant then you are extremely misguided. The 06/07 season was an anamoly seeing Manchester United enjoy one of their best domestic seasons while Chelsea were hit by injury after injury to key players and a lack of cover cost us dearly. We still won two cups anyway.

Some hated them. That's why FC United were formed. However, not being a reactionary and seeing that Martin Edwards had already made us as commercial an entity as anybody ever could, I was prepared to give the owners a chance.
Don't assume that because I support Man U I share the same view as every other fan.

Frankly, with the money Abramovich had spent in the previous three years cover should not have been an issue.

The fact that we were lacking cover at the back is one of the reasons why you were able to beat us. FFS in the FA Cup final we beat you and we had Michael Essien starting at CB. Pretty sad isn't it? And in both games over the regular season we drew.

We lost Gallas and Huth at the last minute and were able to get a defender in. Although he turned out to be shit. What's funny is that your club is using Owen Hargreaves, a defensive midfielder at rightback when you had Pique and the wings when you have Park.
