For the record, we don't discuss results unless there is an [R] in the heading of the thread...
I did not feel he looked out of place at all... to me, he looked fine, apart from the crosses to the far post... however, most coaches will tell you to cross far post... I blame the fact that his crosses found no one, on Luis Figo, who playing on RW should have come in off the flank to meet crosses, however, Figo sulked whenever the ball was not on his flank and did not press forward when Cristiano had the ball, as a result, Ronaldo had to try and find Pauletta or one of the midfielders in the center when there were 4 or 5 defenders in the box a nearly impossible task - I think he played well and perhaps he should have tried a few crosses targeted at Pauletta but I doubt it would have made much of a difference... the Greek Central Defence was superb in my opinion.

Ok United. To some of you who doubted Beckham. EURO 2004. is the best place to see who is the man btn him and C Ronaldo.

Why do people insist on comparing the 2 of them? Beckham is 10 years older than Ronaldo, how can u compare who is the 'man'? It's dumb really. When Ronaldo is Beckham's age, he'll be like 10 times better than beckham(maybe not at set pieces). You never know what Ronaldo will improve on next, he can score headers, the odd freekick, regular shots AND rip defenders apart...ALL THIS AT 19 folks, 19...
So give the kid a break.

Yeah, but why sell some one who is already established to develop a kid who "ll be good 10 years to come. What do you do while you wait for him to be good and what guarantees you he will still be playing 10 years to come. If you admit Becks is good right now then face it Fergie screwd up.

Because Real were willing to spend stupid money for Beckham.
Because SAF felt the squad needed a change.
Because ManUtd needed someone to take on defenders as Giggs nears retirement.
Because, as transfer prices show, teams value potential and the ability to have a player who will make an impact for years to come.

Ok. Becks still got years in his legs.
A change is supposed to be for the better not for the worse. He weakened the team and still got people like you to back him up . What a guy this Fergie is.
What about he just didn't get a long with Becks. Doesn't that one count also?

Becks may have years left, but he sure didn't show it to us this season, and he hasn't been all that effective since 2001 anyway. Ronaldo had a better 2003-04 season than Beckham did anyway.
Then again we all know about your opinion of Fergie. He's past it, he can't manage anymore, doesn't know what's good for the team, sold Becks cause he's a prick, etc etc.

I am begining to see why you are not loved by your fellow chelsea fans on your board...
Your logic is flawed and you wont be shifted from your opinion you came to argue not to converse... be careful, because no matter how brilliant you are (I am far from calling you brilliant) others around you are always getting smarter, and if you value your own opinion more than anything else, you will never learn anything, and what happens to be brilliance today, becomes obsolete and misinformed tommorow... imagine what happens when you start off with misinformed...
For those who will listen (not ZANI) Ronaldo at this stage of his career has shown amazing promise... but he was not meant to be Beckham's replacement... when Beckham was sold, or when plans for his sale were being drawn up, we were not even considering getting the lad, its just that others wanted him so it forced our hand... the fact is... ManU played better with OGS playing RW for periods in Beckham's last season. We expected that to continue and we were planning on bringing Ronnaldinho in who can play anywhere in midfield or as a striker as well. Ronaldo however, was brought in... and all he did was beat defenders constantly, then the doubters came shouting "One Trick Pony" and then he did the damn thing to their teams too! They shouted some more insults about him being one dimensional and not very productive (a teenager not productive for the League Champs in his first year playing in the league? shock, horror). Then he scored, set up a few, then scored some more... and pretty soon it became evident that the most dangerous player on the team was Ronaldo, a team containing Ruud, Scholes, Giggs, Keane... a team that were the defending champions became reliant on a young lad, who led counter attacks, got the ball in bad positions and rounded numerous defenders, and sent in more crosses than most would have thought possible, made intelligent passes, did not always try to dribble and as it was still not enough... So what did he do? He made his critics eat their words, they said he was a sissy and a diver, so he played the very physical Millwall in the FA Cup final and won the game for ManU... still, no respect for the young lad... Well, he has already conceded a penalty and scored a goal in Euro...
While Ronaldo will continue to rely on many many stepovers but as long as he continues to round 3 or 4 defenders a game... get in shots that others would not, make crosses, use his speed to win balls on occasion and sneaks in on the far post to aim headers at goal, he will continue to be called a 'One Trick Pony' but ManU and Portugal supporters wont mind it at all... as long as he keeps on doing that one trick in the many variations... scoring, setting up, crossing, making Ashley Cole look stupid, we will be happy...

There is a fine line btn conversing and arguing when you disgree to each other. I didn't come here to put down Ronaldo. The boy is good. No doubt. I just wanted to remind you all, what you miss by letting Becks go.I made the comparison btn the two because there are people here who say to hell with Becks, we got Ronaldo.

You were the first to bring it up in this thread... stop your nonsense... and as for what we miss... we miss the great set piece ability of his... not much else tbh... Ronaldo creates as many chances with his crosses as Becks does, not because he is as accurate but because he crosses more often from a position in which something positive can come from them as opposed to the very long ambitious balls (which worked from time to time). I don't think we lost much in selling Becks... and if u asked me which player I would rather have... I would forever say Ronaldo... I appreciate what Becks did, and his skill in passing and shooting and set pieces but in the end, Ronaldo's style is more suited to this team... If Beckham found himself in Germany though he would be magical... could u imagine him paired with Ballack in midfield? His long balls and wonderful crosses would be better received by Makaay than by Ruud or Ronaldo...

You know, this is all uncalled for. I just watched Ronaldo in Portugal- Greece game and Becks in France- England and I figured there was some bitching in selling Becks. You know SAF could have them both if he wanted.

We missed Rio this season more than Beckham - period.
I would have rather had Ronaldo than Beckham on the right in alot of matches this season as well.
Apparently Ferguson thought that by reducing the average age of the squad and reloading at certain positions was more imortant than keeping a veteran player who was more frequently a bigger distraction than anything else. He wanted to go to Real Madrid. He was sold. Maybe Fergie's relationship with Beckham was a factor in his decision to sell, but Beckam's relationship with Fergie was also a factor in him wanting to leave. It's a two way street.
Now, off to the Arsenal and Chelski boards with you....

Nor do they have much silverware. But then, their personnel decisions are very well-thought out by an entire committee who decides what is best for the club, right?

Silverware? Looks like you all have seen the last one for a long time to come.
Look, Chelsea players are rich. They got a lot of silver in their m'********ing houses. They don't care about silver. They just wanna kick somebody's butt and chill. That is why they stupidly let go of CL in Monaco.
You all need to look at that free kick again. It was sent to Lampard by using a static IP address.
