No im not saying Ljunbergs better im just saying Ronaldo's not Arsenal material.

Ljungbergs days at Arsenal are coming to an end, I dont think he's got what it takes anymore and the rightwing needs strengthening.
So when you said that you would rather have Ljungberg than Ronaldo you didn't mean it... or did you?

What exactly is it about Ronaldo that does not make him "Arsenal material"? Could it be his lightning pace? His tight ball-control? His flair? His ability to go past players down the wing?

I'm confused here - I would have thought Ronaldo fitted exactly into the Arsenal "style".... It couldn't be that you're just not big enough to admit the kid has the makings of a world-class player and you'd love him at Arsenal would it? If not, then who will you have playing there next season given your budget constraints for any further transfers??

Looks like Chelsea are on the verge of signing Roberto Carlos from Real Madrid for 20 million pounds. Couldn't we up the price a bit? Chelsea should have to pay more than that for Carlos.
Sorry but if Chelsea want to pay £20M for a player with a couple of years left in him and then pay him £100k a week plus then good luck to them....

I feel sorry for Wayne Bridge - the kid had a good season there and was really starting to settle in. I hope he does the right thing and looks for a move to another big club to ensure he gets first team playing time..

Oh I'm sure they'll have plenty after the purchases of Reyes, van Persie, and the cost of that little £357m side project.

Eh, Chelsea can sign all the overpriced, overrated, overage talent they want to. It only irks me when they follow our scouts around and go after the kids we want.

No surprises - good riddance. Was a farce anyway...

As for Calros, I'm with PS - drive the price up for Roberto Carlos; that means they'll have less cash to splash to price us out of the market for Tevez, etc.

No matter what we do, Chelsea will not have "less cash".

Didn't know Liam was already in Manchester, even though IIRC his transfer is official July 1st.

Miller, O’Shea remain in Manchester
May 25, 2004
John O’Shea and new Manchester United teammate Liam Miller stayed on in Manchester instead of linking up with the rest of the Irish squad on Monday morning, but both are expected to shake off niggles to make themselves available for selection against Romania on Thursday.
O’Shea picked up an ankle injury during Saturday’s FA Cup final win over Millwall, while Miller has already been introduced to the medical staff at Old Trafford after leaving Celtic over the weekend, receiving treatment on a groin problem that could require minor surgery over the summer months.
Both are expected to make the journey to the Irish team base in Malahide today (Tuesday), although club colleague Roy Keane remains a doubt and will not travel until tonight at the earliest.

Scotland manager Berti Vogts will give Fletcher the armband for thier friendly with Estonia making Fletcher the youngest ever skipper in scottish soccer. And also said that Fletcher will be the future captain of MU. Most people seems to dislike Fletcher and while i know he has made progress this season, I still don't see what merit him to be a captain.

Vogts is building a squad with an eye to the youth coming through. Darren plays the right position, and seeing as he plays regularly for Manchester United, why not make him Captain and see how he responds?

Beckham became a better player for England once he was given the armband as well.

That seems pretty young to skipper an international team. However, Mottermen is right on aobut Beckham improving post armband. I just hope the other outcome of getting the arm band that were seen in Beckham (ie playing harder for England than ManU) are not seen in young Darren.

Well, hopefully he'll emulate Keano more than Beckham then. Keane's commitment to either United or Ireland have never been questioned on the pitch. :)

I think the facts need to be checked - I think Fletch has already been captain of Scotland once earlier this year. It was either that he was captain or Vogts came out and said Fletch would make a good captain; I can't recall.

I know that England isn't the best squad in the world... but they're contenders. Beckham could imagine lilfting the World Cup or European Championship.

Scotland? They qualify now and then... but I have trouble believing that young Darren could become *that* invested in a team that would be relegated from the Prem if it were a club side.

One trick pony.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Interesting....i'll admit, when I first watched him in his first appearance towards the beginning of the season, I thought the same thing. It wasn't until I watched his play very closely that I realized how brilliantly he is able to get himself into dangerous positions off of step-over variations, shimmies and nice cuts in back of the standing leg. All that whilst putting some defenders straight on their asses and making them look incredibly lame. With all that being said he's not a one trick pony as aforementioned in this thread. The bottom line.......he's a very good dribbler....meaning good but not great just yet. As a pure dribbler, he hasn't changed the game at all. In that catagory i'd still highly rate Ronaldinho and Edgar Davids just to name a two of the best today. They both have some nasty, sick and ill moves that most players (myself included) can only dream of pulling off. Holla at ya boy......United back on top in 2004..
