That is a fantastic pic, Motterman. I love how all the players are still looking with anticipation, as nobody has quite yet reacted to the ball going in the net.

Not just all the players, but pretty much everyone in the stadium, and millions watching around the world... all were about to go into emotions ranging from complete ecstacy to total shock and heartbreak.

Arenas is in a bit of a quandry with his keepers. He has three excellent keepers, and they all need caps to keep their work permits, right?

My memory isn't sharp but I believe Howard is in the process of getting a Hungarian passport. And since Hungary is joining the EU, he will qualify that way. I believe that's why he was initially turned down but won on appeal.

I guess the players didn't wanna just burst in tears of joy bercause if the goal was disallowed or if Kahn managed to keep it out, they'd end up looking like complete w*nkers... :p

Looks like this week SAF will be back in the spotlight for transfer dealings. The BBC is airing a documentary on Thursday which claims to have some new allegations.

Former United coach Carlos Quieroz has been sacked by Real Madrid.

Looks like the FA is considering bringing in foreign refs for the big matches to prevent over-familiarization with players - http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=afp-fbl_eng_pr_referees&prov=afp&type=lgns

Good idea.

Great article on Ronaldo in the Times - http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,27-1120794,00.html The speed of Ronaldo’s development is encouraging, with much of the self-indulgence and tumbling eradicated in his first full season in England. “Diving has crept into our game and we don’t like it, ” Ferguson said. “Ronaldo has cut that out.” Well, that's settled then. Now the refs simply *have* to call it when Ronaldo goes down - he doesn't dive anymore. more from Robbie Ryan - “It was a relief to come off in the end,” he said. “It’s not like (David) Beckham, where you know he’s going to try to get that yard and whip in the cross. This guy is so quick and you just don’t know what he’s going to do next. He’s got so many tricks.”Pure class from Ryan - he's had many compliments for Ronaldo and United.

A wide-ranging review of the club's transfer policies by finance director Nick Humby has established that United complied with all regulations set down by FIFA, the Football Association and the Premier League.

However, it did recognise the external concern at the connection between United and Elite, for whom Sir Alex Ferguson's son Jason is a director.

It has therefore concluded that Elite should no longer be used by the club and, as the company already acts on behalf of 13 United players, any fees paid to them as part of contract renegotiations for existing squad members will be publicised.

Why is that funny? He played about half as much as Pires, and made more runs and more crosses this season...

mad theory

Pires is not a natural winger, he tends to move central during matches where he plays quick one touch passes, always present in a attack and chips in a few goals too.

Riiigght - so which trick is that? The behind the leg cross? The stepover? The feint? Which trick exactly are you referring to?

Comparing him with Pires? Fine, Pires at the peak of his skills and advancing years coming up fast compared with a precocious 19 year old who has already improved hugely this year....

Put it this way - who would you rather have in your team next year on the right wing? Ronaldo or Ljungberg???

mad theory
25 May 2004, 09:03 AM
Ljungberg.

Ronaldo's not Arsenal material.

Ljungberg.

Ronaldo's not Arsenal material.
Really? Are you feeling all right?

Strange that - Ljungberg has been nowhere near the player he was for the last two seasons, he never got over the injury. What has he done this year that makes you think he is going to get anywhere close to his previous best?

Sorry but that response shows you up as a blinkered gooner - I'll happily admit when Arsenal have a better player in a position (Campbell/Toure vs Brown? Henry vs Saha/Forlan?).

Looks like Chelsea are on the verge of signing Roberto Carlos from Real Madrid for 20 million pounds. Couldn't we up the price a bit? Chelsea should have to pay more than that for Carlos.

No im not saying Ljunbergs better im just saying Ronaldo's not Arsenal material.

Ljungbergs days at Arsenal are coming to an end, I dont think he's got what it takes anymore and the rightwing needs strengthening.
