I wouldn't give Ole his return game so early and in as crucial a match as this. We've already seen what coming back early has done for Wes Brown

From the Beeb:
Manchester United have named Walter Smith as assistant manager until the end of the season.
Smith, who left Everton in 2002, fills the position vacated by Carlos Queiroz when he left Old Trafford last summer to take over at Real Madrid.
"I am delighted that Walter has accepted the chance to join United," said boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
"There are few people in the game with his experience, knowledge and technical ability."

New No. 2 Smith:
"The chance to come to Manchester United is something I couldn't turn down," said Smith.
"There are few bigger challenges in football than helping a successful side sustain their achievements."
"I have huge admiration for what Sir Alex has achieved at United and I'm excited to be part of it."

Smith, a former Dundee United and Dumbarton player, joined Rangers in 1986 and became first team coach in 1991.
He won the Scottish Premier League title in each of the six seasons he was in charge and picked up three Scottish Cups and three Scottish League Cups while in charge at Ibrox.
Awarded an OBE in 1997, he was appointed Everton manager in 1998 until he was dismissed by the club in March 2002.

What's all this 'until the end of the season' crap? We wait this long only to hire an interim manager?! Strange. Hell - that ives Smith oh about 75 days to "turn it around".
What is he - a miracle worker? A healer (#### I hope so!)? I don't care how great his football mind is, he hasn't been there this season and it's gonna take him 30-60 days just to get to know the players and what their best positions/attributes are!
I hope I'm not too pessimistic when I say "Too little, too late" but that's what it seems like right now.

Magnier-Ferguson dispute ends after Desmond intervention
05/03/2004 - 12:46:01 pm
The dispute between Irish racehorse tycoon John Magnier and Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has reportedly ended.
The two men have been in dispute for some time over the ownership of stud rights relating to the horse Rock of Gibraltar.
However, reports today said financier Dermot Desmond had helped broker a settlement between both sides ahead of the upcoming Cheltenham Festival.

I wouldn't hold your breath, kiddies. Those flat roofs have got to drain somewhere and unless these 7,500 extra seats come with massive downpipes in front of them as standard, that means they have to slope down from front to back, as they do now.
So the PLC will have to shell out for re-reroofing three sides of the ground as part of the build.
You could get a couple of Robbens for that sort of money.
In other words, this is good-news-candy to detract from the rest of the kaka.

Keane banned for one match (not three) for Red Card against Porto.
Surely, if they felt he "stamped" on Baia, it would have been more.

That's great news. I still maintain that was a yellow card and Porto way overreacted.

The source told Reuters that Ferguson had accepted a deal for significantly less than half of the stud fees for the horse, estimated to be worth around 100 million pounds ($181.9 million), which his legal case demanded. Holy chit - I'll take "significantly less than half" of $182 million any day!

If we somehow can pull this tie out it will be that much sweeter...but MAN, do we have our work cut out for us in this one.

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=293503&cc=5901
Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed he has reached 'an amicable settlement' with John Magnier over the breeding rights to the racehorse Rock Of Gibraltar.
The Manchester United boss is believed to have agreed to a peace deal that will net him around £2.5million to avert a courtroom battle with the club's biggest shareholder.
