I reckon Ronaldo should follow the following rules of 'smart diving' (or simulation as FIFA like to call lit now!);
1. only dive when contact is made
2. only dive in and around the penalty area
3. if you have a ref who is not giving them don't persist
I think Ronaldo has been guilty of not following 2 and 3. In particular 3. This is what has got him a reputation, which is sad as number 1 is by far the worst crime.
Owen and Shearer generally follow the above so avoid the 'diver' tag even though they do it all the time. Heskey has the diver tag because he fails to follow number 2. Pires is guilty of all counts :)

I just wish he would cut it out, and just rely on his skill.

I also think that Ronaldo is amazing, especially for an 18 yr old.
and I understand what bigtoga is saying. But he's only been playing in the premiership for a few months, and he is most well known for being a diver. He definetly needs to tone it down a bit.
a defender fouls you, you could stay on your feet, but you just let go and fall and get the free kick. That makes sense from a players perspective.
I would like it if he stayed away from that though, and still do extremely well, partly to shut up all the haters.

Alot of his reputation is jealousy and hatred... how would you feel if you were a fan and some kid makes half of your team look stupid... you would find anything to discredit that person...
The kid is a beast.

the kids awesome. The reason why he eats grass so much is in part frustration from defenders from all the tricks he does. It easier to just take a good kick at him and hope he falls to stop him.

Nice little Becks article - Zidane is the greatest says Beckham (http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=afp-fbl_spa_eng_beckham&prov=afp&type=lgns) "Zidane is the greatest player in the world," said Beckham. "I get on well with him and he is the one who understands me best. He is the sort of player who makes special things happen on the field.
"Ronaldo is also special because every time he has the ball you know that he could score."
The England captain also fuelled the rumours that Real will re-enter the transfer market at the end of the season to add one of the world's top strikers - his former Manchester United teammate Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Thierry Henry, Michael Owen or Francesco Totti - to their formidable squad.
"For me, van Nistelrooy is one of the best strikers in the world," Beckham said. "I'd say Henry comes narrowly behind Ruud and Ronaldo.
"I've played with Owen for England and he is an extraordinary player and Totti is also very good. But it's not me who does the recruiting."

It's just hard to justify buying a $20 t-shirt and paying nearly $20 to ship it to me. I'm heading to London later this year and may pick a few things up there.

You must go to the Manchester System, there you will learn from Keano, the Jedi Master who instructed me. [/Obi-Wan]

City score 4 goals, including the injury time winner, with just ten men, and at White Hart Lane! Keegan may just have saved his job.
Add that one to the storied history of the FA Cup. :)
United-City it is in the fifth round!

What a match, and what a match to come in the fifth round.
I liek Spurs and wanted them to win despite Citeh-United in the 5th round if they won, but what really disappointed me was my supposed ManU supporting friend on his feet cheering for City with all his heart.

The Football Association confirmed today that Anelka will serve a three-match suspension, beginning with the Premiership trip to Bolton on February 21. He will also miss home games against Chelsea and Manchester United.
Man, those are three HUGE games for Citeh that he will miss.

Shoot, Anelka might miss the FA Cup match next weekend anyway, as he went off with a groin injury after 27 minutes vs. Spurs yesterday.
I'm very happy that we've got City in the next round, as I think it's the better matchup. It's pretty obvious that Fergie has toned down the squad for FA Cup matches over the past few seasons and that the competition ranks a distant 3rd to EPL and CL in his mind. But with a derby match, he's pretty much got to play a first team because he knows how important it is to both players and fans to win this one.
