Sky Sports has an article that discusses Fergie's midfield delima and his selection issues.

http://www.skysports.com/skysports/article/0,,31-1110514,00.html

Looks like if Forlan can keep his form and play well, not necessarily score, but play well, we may keep the 4-4-2 for a while.

I have to tip my hat to Fergie. He has really done a wonderful job with his signings and management of the team. From time to time as a fan I get nervous when we drop points or play poorly.
We all question team selection as well, but Fergie knows what he is doing. For any team to have success in Europe while having success in their own league several things must happen.
All the players in the squad must be rested, so while we get upset when a few players dont play and we dont love the result we get, the fact is, those players will be ready for the next match, and resting players also helps prevent injuries.
All our young players are getting experience which they will need to compete as the core of our team in years to come and they are getting the experience and playing an important role.
Maybe I am biased, but I think ManU has the best crop of young talent in the Prem thanks to shrewd SAF.
Fletch and Ronaldo excite me the most, but Dj Dj, is only 22, Bellion has time.
We dont really have that many old players.

Daily Mirror linking us to:

Shevchenko, and if we can't land him, Anelka

Also: Fergie set to sign deal to keep him at Old Trafford through 2007 (supposedly a rolling deal on top of that)

Also: Wes Brown may be back for the Carling Cup match in three weeks (this is HUGE - considering the Rio situation)

Haha, I wish. If we get Schevchenko the EPL should be suspended until he and Ruud are too old to play and they should deliver CL Cup to us before the competition starts...

MADRID, Nov 10 (Reuters) - Barcelona forward Ronaldinho will miss Brazil's World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Uruguay and at least four Spanish league games after a scan on Monday confirmed that he had torn a thigh muscle in his right leg.

Awww.... too bad Roni.http://pages.prodigy.net/indianahawkeye/signs02/13.gif

I hate to hate on other clubs but I am rooting for Barca to do poorly. They are deep in debt and they have no European football this year and if they do poorly they wont have any next year which means players like Puyol, and possibly Saviola may be sold. Especially since Kluivert is now claiming he doesn't want to leave Barca in the summer anymore.... I don't buy it, but its what he said.

Fletcher played extremely well for Scotland today. He's shaping up to be a star.

Always good to hear... hope this translates into some good form for us... we may need it... especially if SAF decides to put Ronaldo behind Ruud (or even Fletcher himself).

Fletcher is the heir apparent of Paul Scholes. He looks so much more comfortable in the middle of the pitch going forward. But we need cover on the right until Ole is fit, and Ronaldo can't play every week either. Fletcher will have to do what O'Shea did last year = perform well enough out of your natural position to force your way into the squad.

Ah ha! I speculated as to this a few months ago, and everyone laughed me off. Tribal isn't the most reliable site... but the issue is in the news now!

Manchester United have opened talks with Real Madrid about limiting the threat of new European power Chelsea.
AS says dialogue has been held between Real coach Carlos Queiroz and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, with board level talks also due to begin.

United and Real are discussing the possibility of a wage and transfer fee cap, so to stop one-man club owners like Roman Abramovich and Chelsea from again spending the massive amounts of money he did in August.

United are already in advanced talks with Premiership clubs about the proposal, which will be put forward to the powerful G14 European lobby.

Real Madrid goes on its own spending sprees often enough...I doubt this would every happen.

This would certainly make things more interesting... I think it would be a good idea... teams would not be able to overcharge for a player just cuz we come knocking...
