Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed he will make an announcement on his future in the next 'two to three days'.

Ronaldo has been heavily linked with a record-breaking move to Real Madrid in recent weeks although United are determined to keep hold of their star.

United have threatened to report the Spanish champions to Fifa over what they claim are attempts to unsettle Ronaldo, who scored 42 goals in all competitions last season.

The 23-year-old has now revealed that he is hoping an announcement at the start of next week will end all speculation.

Decision

Speaking after Portugal's 2-0 win over Georgia, Ronaldo told A Bola: "Let's see, I hope there will be news soon.

"In two to three days I will announce my decision."

If he decides his future lies away from Old Trafford, Ronaldo would have a fight on his hands to secure a transfer to the Bernabeu.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said on Sunday the Glazer family, the club's owners, would rather drop Ronaldo than allow him to leave.

What is he doing?

What is he doing?

If he only told us all! So everyone can sharpen their knifes and prepare their various gloats/counters/riposts, etc

Utterly ridiculous, this thing has become. The boy better stay.

If not, I'm happy to see him go.

Getting fed up with this. If he doesnt pledge his future to Man United , reveal a Man United tatoo, produce a notarized copy of an oath to Sir , I say we need to punk Madrid with a huge transfer fee and getting a player or too thrown in. We will never get more for him than we will now. Certainly not as much if he plays a pouty , scoring less than 40 goal season. He's a great player and much of our 07/08 success is owed to his spectacular season . But contrary to the subject line , he is not GOD and he is not BIGGER THAN THE CLUB

After thinking about it, I've come to the conclusion that Ronaldo will possibly choose to go to Real Madrid. He is easily one of the most ambitious players in the game, and he probably feels that after winning everything he can win with Manchester, even individual awards, he needs a change of scenery, and a new challenge. Personally, I don't want him to go to Real, cause I hate the way they are structured, how they handle their players, etc., etc. but, it is ultimately his choice, and if SAF really does want to be a little immature prat about the situation and rot him on the sidelines after he's given so much to the club, than so be it. Hopefully, however, he stays in Manchester.

I think he is going to stay for another season.

It's obvious he is going to stay.

In the quotes he says something like "Hopefully there will be news in the next few days" or something like that. If this was purely about him choosing to stay or go, what news is he waiting for? My guess is that it's about his brand spanking new hefty contract that United are busy discussing as we speak.

IMO, 50-50 he goes, which of course also means 50-50 he stays.

And more money.

I agree with your assessment of The Machine That Is Real Madrid. However, it is only Ronaldo's choice to ask to leave. It is ultimately up to Manchester United to allow it to happen.

and if SAF really does want to be a little immature prat about the situation and rot him on the sidelines after he's given so much to the club, than so be it.

I don't see what was so immature about SAF's statement. He simply announced the position the club has taken and sent a crystal clear warning to a player who is, directly or indirectly, rocking the boat. Ronaldo could have ended all of this on Day One with a definitive statement. He didn't, and here we are...

If I were SAF, knowing what I did to help Ronaldo realize his potential, as well as helping him perform some serious damage control after the infamous incident with Rooney in the World Cup, I'd be pretty pissed off too.

Hopefully, however, he stays in Manchester.

After watching all of this unfold over the last month, there is a part of me that could really care less if he stays or goes.

Do you (as a fan) even want him anymore?

I honestly wouldn't care either way.

I expect him to announce he is staying though, and if he does, I do wonder how many fans view him after he could have avoided all this in the first place. Is he holding your club to ransom on a new contract? If does seem that way sometimes, and is that one player bigger than the club? I'd say no, but then again maybe he is actually having doubts about what he should do. If he wanted to join us then I would support him like any other player, but if he decides to stay I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

I honestly think its kind of a bitch move to be asking for so much more so soon, when he just re-did his contract not to long ago.

How much is he on right now? It must be upwards of 100k if he just renewed, so where is he expecting the club to go from here?
