I know we have some Stats Nerds on this board so here are the unofficial end of season status.

Chelsea played a total of 61 games.

Cech- 39 apps. 22 Goals conceeded.
Cudicini- 19 apps. 14 Goals conceeded.
Hilario- 6 apps. 2 goals conceeded.

A. Cole- 40 apps. 1 goal. 6 yellows, 1 red.
Maka- 34 apps. 5 yellows.
Essien- 45 apps. 6 goals. 9 yellows, 1 red.
Carvs- 37 apps. 1 goal. 12 yellows, 1 red.
Sheva- 26 apps. 8 goals.
Sidwell- 24 apps. 1 goal. 2 yellows.
J. Cole- 54 apps. 10 goals. 6 yellows.
Drogba- 32 apps. 14 goals. 5 yellows, 2 reds.
Mikel- 37 apps. 9 yellows, 2 reds.
Ballack- 30 apps, 9 goals. 6 yellows.
Pizza- 30 apps. 2 goals. 1 yellow.
Malouda- 36 apps. 3 goals. 2 yellows.
Sinclair- 6 apps. 1 goal.
Bridge- 22 apps.
Ferreria- 28 apps. 2 yellows.
Kalou- 48 apps. 11 goals. 1 yellow.
TBH- 22 apps. 3 yellows.
SWP- 40 apps. 5 goals. 1 yellow.
JT- 37 apps. 1 goal. 8 yellows.
Alex- 39 apps. 3 goals. 6 yellows.
Belletti- 38 apps. 2 goals. 8 yellows.
Anelka- 24 apps. 2 goals.

What really strikes me is how many games our core players missed, more on that during my end of season analysis (which will come much later).

Suprised to see how many games Sidwell, Pizza, Alex and SWP compared and few times Bridge played.

You know Fern mate, you can try and avoid the whole Lampard debate by excluding him from your list, but I do recall him scoring and playing, system player though he be :p

What is surprising is that Drogba and lampard, the 2 players who apparently are not suited to our system are the ones with the highest goals and will have to be scrapped in order for our team to move forward.

Pizza- 30 apps.
SWP- 40 apps.
Sheva- 26 apps.
TBH- 22 apps.

 WOW!! 30 m,atches for Pizzaro?

I wonder what their "minutes played" stats would be like though!! I'm sure some of these have to be like 5 minutes per game - other than perhaps SWP.

I don't think anyone has said he is not suited for the system, whatever that has been under Grant - is there one?? ...just that his shenaigans are not helping and if he really wants out, so be it. As far as Lampard, as I said before, "If it ain't broke - don't fix it!"

I do agree Chelsea can become even better...but midfield is not an issue. Enter the Malouda/Kalou discussion on the transfer thread!

I love this stuff, fern. Thanks.

Remember we didn't have Anelka until January so Pizarro was playing in every game... damn, he ********in sucked. I remember spending the whole time he was on screaming for him to go play up by Drogba and not in midfield.

20 goals in 39 matches... Lampard is disgusting.

Alex has the same strike rate as Malouda. Compared to Joey's 10 and Kalou's 11 I think the writing is on the wall in a 4-3-3 system.

Alex played more games than both Terry and Carvalho.

Well done, Sheva. You've never lost my respect, it's a shame you weren't at your best for this club. Much better return than Wingelka and you would have buried your penno. Good luck in the future.

I can't believe Sidwell has played 24 matches ... All I remember him from was the Carling Cup.

I think it has been reiterated that Drogba's "shenaigans" were basically from one french magazine for which he apologised. What more do you want? Yeah if he goes, i will wish him the best but i am not on the "sell him" bandwagon.

And agree on the winger part. We need two or atleast one more quality winger, a la messi :D

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Really amazing when you take a look at how much time some players missed.

This suprised me with the "trimming of the squad" comments coming from tptb.

Fern I cannot believe that you did not put in how many times Joe Cole breathed or the amount of times Ballack took his shirt off.

Cech- 39 apps. 22 Goals conceeded.

wow, this isnt the petr cech i knew...

Mikel- 37 apps. 9 yellows, 2 reds.

i think he really still has to learn lots,no goal for a midfielder..and 9 yellows and 2 reds..not impressed

Pizza- 30 apps. 2 goals. 1 yellow.
Anelka- 24 apps. 2 goals.

two strikers with a combined appearence of 54,and a total goal tally of 4?
this is just sad...

Suprised to see how many games Sidwell, Pizza, Alex and SWP compared and few times Bridge played.

Suprised by Cech as well, although he did conceed 4 in one game.

Mikel and Carvs suprised me with the amount of bookings. I shouldnt be that suprised as they are the most "enthusiatic" tacklers on the team. Could learn from Maka and his minial 5 yellows, including the unjust one in the CL Final.

Its really shocking to think that 2 Internationals who are both proven in very good leagues (Prem, Bundesliga) can amass a measly 4 goals in 54 apps. I dont know if it says more about the players or the management.

agreed.

Surprised by Cech? If 22 goals in 39 games means one goal a game then that's at least 17 clean sheets... half of his games. Then we know we've conceded 2 multiple times. I don't like stats for keepers anyway as they rely so heavily on the back four, which was pants at times this year.
