Terry's a great player, but pure filth as a person.

You hit it on the head when you used the word talismantic to refer to him and his importance to Chelsea but to be honest I never expected him to spit on anyone.

Well, this is someone who went to a London Hotel on September 12, 2001, got drunk and taunted the americans there about the attack, so spitting ain't the worst of it.

calm down calm down.
we already had this discussion awhile about Terry and the
"Sept 11" thing.
It was never exactly clear what happened and even if he said something
terrible...he was younger...and he has done alot of growing up since then.
Say what you want about him..but he's a good player and he IS Chelsea...
and remember that we'll all human, and under pressure like he is under, players do stupid things all the time.
Roy Keane intentionally went out and broke someones leg....yet man
u fans still love him.

Keano was a kind innocent man who on his spare time went to mass and helped those in need!! I know nothing of what you talk about :D

I always try to judge athletes on their abilities and political views separately. Why? Well I'm at the game to forget my trouble and have a good time. Spend some time with my friends and family. See some good soccer and so on.

If I had to like players based on my views the pickings would be SLIM. So in the case of John Terry, I can't see why the man couldn't be rated as an EXCEPTIONAL player with amazing talents, and like metrogo says, talismanic qualities with regards to Chelsea. His personal views don't make him a better/worse player, it only changes YOUR PERCEPTION of him.

Granted that everything is everything but sometimes we need to separate personal views from an athletes performance on the field. Now the CHELSEA BASHING may continue!!

ya...i understand...
but you don't really think john terry really meant what he said to those
americans after 9/11?
He was a drunk kid, fcuking with some American tourists....
He said somthing offensive and stupid..
If i was held accountable for every stupid, offensive thing i've said
when i was in a bar...i'd be in deep sh*t...

I've stopped defending athletes. Let them have their own views. Who cares if they disagree with me. Just run up and down the field and kick the fcuking ball like you are paid to do.
