Probably because there still fresh in the memory, and what they evetually led to. The first ones that came to mind were the Scholes scorcher against Barca and that towering header by Ronaldo in the first leg against Roma.

My favorite goal was Nani's against Tottenham for sure. We were struggling to score in the prem and the tension was just building and building, then it was all released in one explosive, orgasm-like moment with that long range blast. Then the back flips to put the icing on the cake....man...

It may not have been the most important but it was such a memorable goal.

edit: Since penalties DO count, then without a doubt, Ryan Giggs for the Champions League winner.

Other than penalties, probably Scholesly against Barca. An absolutely huge goal and without that we might not have even made the final; on top of that, it was a throwback to the Scholes of old.

Ronaldo vs. Pompey was scintilating. Scholes vs. Barcelona was epic. Ronaldo vs. Roma (QF, 1st leg) was one of the best goals I have ever seen. And if we're allowing penalties then Anderson vs. Chelsea (it gave me a glimpse into the future).

I wrote in the second Barcelona match thread that Scholes' goal was The Goal Of The Season not only for its importance, but for the sheer beauty of it. I'll stand by that.
