I have heard in transfer rumors that Bobby Convey will make a move and will most likely not stay on the Reading squad. He could go anywhere from the Eredivisie to the MLS and etc. I know toward the end of the season Coppell did not play him much, wasn't sure if that was a Coppell decision or if Convey was battling an injury?

I'm not sure who would be interested in him since he only played a dozen games this season, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Convey suit up somewhere else. He made it known he was ready to play, but apparently he didn't fit into Coppell's plans.

I thought we'd see more of Convey after he got the start against Arsenal in April. He looked like the only Royal who had any idea where the net was, but after that match, he virtually disappeared only to be seen making a rare sub or bench appearance.

He left for the States for another injection in his knee when he learned that Coppell wasn't going to play him in the Derby game. You're not exactly 100% and ready to play, as he's said before, if you are still needing injections. He may be back to having "niggling" knee problems.

I doubt Convey is a big salary player at Reading (as Hunt must be) and has really no chance of being picked up by a Prem team. Hunt on the other hand could attract attention and could go. I know Hunt has said he wouldn't be looking to leave, but the way the things were stated made me think it's by no means a sure thing that he'll stay.

I see Convey staying due to lack of his own options and Reading wanting to have some flexibility on the left given uncertainties w/ Hunt. His best chance of getting back to playing in the Prem is if Hunt leaves and he impresses and helps Reading get promoted.

It's getting on for two years now since Convey has been fit. The worry really is that he won't ever be.

I think it is in the best interest of Convey and the club if he stays with Reading. He has battled this injury for some time but knee injuries can take up to two years to fully heal. If he can come back fully fit for the new season it would serve both him and Reading well. I think he can be a big part of getting Reading back to the prem. If he is still hurting and this will turn out to be a chronic injury than his only hope of playing competitive football is in the MLS. He is one our best players when fully fit so it would be a shame to see him go but if he cannot stay fit then we have to cut our losses.

I think that if an offer comes in for Convey the club will probably let him go, he's injured far too easily and due to that, he's only manged to play well in 1 out of his 4 seasons at the club.

Still though my fondest memory of Convey will be helping the team acheive promotion. He's by and far the best left midfielder this club has, despite what the payscale structure suggests.

He just had to adjust his game to be effective.

I saw him last night with his fiance at the Charleston Battery game. I thought, he might have gotten called up for the England game.

What was he doing at a Battery match?

What was he doing at a Battery match?

He has a house in Mount Pleasant at Rivertown Country Club and his fiance is from here too. They are getting married in October.

I hope he stays. The top of the Championship is most higher quality than MLS. The style of play also fits with more wing play than the over-the-top prem style play.

Cheers,
James
