Of course. John Terry was stepping up to finish us off. If it weren't for that crappy ass pitch . . .
But that's football. What can ya do? :p

Yep. Words like "A real captain's goal" going through my head. Hope England choose their captain wisely.

I was absolutely convinced we had blown it. I was already starting to process this factoid in my mind while standing there in front of my big screen tv. Then John Fecking Terry came up with the chance to end it and I thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be somewhat poetic if he, the Single Biggest Crybaby on their roster, were to blow this?"
And the rest, as they say, is history... :D

Yes. However, I did not cross the room (from my lucky standing spot) to get the remote (to turn the TV off instantly), just in case. No use tempting karma.

NO I always believed that it was fate that on this night that United would win it all.

Was anyone else really worried when they saw Nani step up to take the 5th? I think I started yelling at the TV a little bit. I feel guilty now for not trusting the kid.

I'm a neutral, but I was worried he would not convert it. Especially the look on his face and whatnot... gave him a 50/50 chance at best.
I didn't think Ronaldo would hit a good penalty either, to be honest. When Cech stood firm and didn't flinch on Ronaldo's stutter trick, I figured then he would save it.
Once Ronaldo's was saved, I thought Chelsea would probably win it. Cech seemed up for it, and I basically have far less confidence in Van der Sar than most ManUtd supporters seem to. A lot of people say PKs are all luck, but I disagree. They're about skill... just that they're about somewhat different skills than what football generally asks for (which is why many find them so lame). And the keepers in PK shootouts are extremely important.
The whole match was so dramatic. I thought Chelsea looked likely to get that second goal in the 2nd half, with how they started to play then. But Vidic... Vidic was amazing.

Carrick stepping up to take the PK was the most nervous moment for me - I was a little surprised, considering he seems to shy away from the big moments. But, full credit to him, he held his nerve and put away a nice PK. An overall good game, too.

I had already muted it and had my finger on the power button.

I was preparing myself for a defeat the minute it went to penalties. No way did I expect it to turn out the way it did, I was stunned as the players ran to VDS to celebrate, I couldn't believe it was actually happening.

I was getting my updates via text at school. After I got the news that it was tied up at 1-1 I was nervous as f***.
When I was told it went to extra time, I KNEW it was going to penalties.

Yes, the tears started to well up. I had this feeling all day that if it came to penalties Ronaldo would miss.
But then of course when Terry missed the emotional rollercoaster went up again.
Ohh it was ********ed, but in the end.... :D

100% yes. I was just watching Terry's pen out of masochism more than anything else, it was really just inevitable that Captain Chelsea was going to put the nail in the coffin like Vieira did in the FA Cup Final in 2006. And then... he missed. And you could have called the engraver then and there as far as I was concerned, I knew it was ours. VDS's save on Anelka was a mere formality from that point on. So my tears came after the Terry miss, not in the moments that followed.
What a f**king game. Football, bloody hell.
