If you are like me and find the sports ticker at the bottom of the screen very annoying and unnecessary during soccer broadcasts (especially Champions League) then let ESPN know how you feel. If enough people complain maybe they will not use it during the matches.

Pass this on to as many people as possible if you agree.:)

Wow. For once, I'd love to commend ESPN for their awesome coverage of soccer. In HD, no less. It was a great presentation, a welcome surprise with Seedorf in the booth, and I hardly noticed the ticker was there.

Especially since the ticker had nothing to spoil for me.

Thx,

Jay!

I agree for the most part. I only notice the ticker when I want to know the baseball scores from the night before. They dont take the ticker off for ANYTHING else, so demanding it off during footy matches is down right silly.

What is silly is that there are at least six ESPN's, that most people get at least four of them, and that every single one of them run the same stupid sports scores over and over and over and over. Here's a news flash: the Brewers still lost last night! Who cares! Go to ESPN news or ESPN.com. Buy a newspaper.

And networks never change anything? Seems to me that shows get cancelled regularly, hosts of shows change regularly. Why not presentation style? Ever notice how the ticker goes away for commercials? Just wait until they figure out that they can run commercials during matches, a la Fox Soccer Channel. Then you will notice something else is there.

They run the commericals during halftime, I don't see the problem with it. Would you rather they run the commericals during the middle of the game? Or When theres a goal kick?

The ticker will never go away, like it was said, why remove it for soccer?

If it really bothers you that much then tape a piece of paper the width and length of the ticker and tape it to the screen. Problem solved.

FSC runs commercials during matches?

No, during halftime or before the kickoff, I don't know where he is getting his information.

I don't see the big deal. I think we should be thankful that ESPN even shows soccer especially in HD.

I like the ticker. It's useful when you want to know other scores and it's small enough that it can be ignored when you don't.

Even in BigSoccer, the land of Pointless Complaining, I think we've hit a new low.

They run ads during the game at certain points. World Soccer Shop, Soccer.com/Eurosport, Wallbangers all run during some games. Usually about a fourth of the screen is taken up, the picture consolidated and it's usually pretty unattractive.

Uh, no.

But I did use that link to thank them for their excellent High Definition soccer coverage.

Well, I really thank ESPN for all the hard work. No really, it must be hard to just add a sports ticker to an international feed. All the work was done by Star Sports, just to let you know. I don't know what ESPN did since I watched it elsewhere. but if you think ESPN in the US does great soccer broadcasts, watch MLS today

Great! One match in HD and all of a sudden ESPN are the best, fantastic. What about all the other Champions League matches. I sure love those gray bars on the side telling me that I am watching ESPN. And that wonderful 30 at 30 feature during MLS matches? I think that is the best! Yes, reduce the game feed to a small corner of the screen to tell me more useless sports information while an important play may be happening on the pitch.

HDNet does a much better job with their presentation of MLS and I would thank them and not ESPN.

I guess I don't really have a problem with the ticker as long as they're not showing the score of the game I'm watching...like they did during the World Cup!!

Maybe I was too immersed in the game last night to notice...but it seemed like ESPN didn't have as many of those useless pop-up announcements during the match that take up half the screen. That's one of my biggest problems with ESPN's broadcast...

ESPN provides the best soccer coverage, in high definition, in the world.

Sky Sports in HD disagrees. Yes, that same Sky Sports that got the interview with Sir Alex Ferguson instead of ESPN/Star Sports. And if you're talking about in the U.S., there isn't much competition is there? The only other is HD Net, which is better anyways.

Wow...someone is complaining about ESPN. Never heard that one before.

Jeez, the ticker barely is noticeable, it doesn't detract from the action at all whatsoever. Besides, what if I want to read the NFL updates while I'm watching or see the MLB scores.

Jeez, the ticker barely is noticeable, it doesn't detract from the action at all whatsoever.Actually, that's not true at all. As well as they presented the CL game, which I thank them for, their MLS game last night was ruined by the ticker. Especially the part where they kept putting up the flashing "NBA ALERT" extolling viewers of MLS on ESPN2 to change the channel to ESPN to watch the final half hour of NBA basketball. If I was Don Garber, I might have a small problem with that.

The ticker was great on Wednesday because they didn't give away scores of games that would be shown on their networks later in the day. Most Champions League on ESPN2 coverage is marred by a ticker that shows you the score of a game that will come on ESPN Classic for a premiere viewing right after the one you are watching on ESPN2. Thankfully Derek Rae got someone at ESPN to listen him regarding that scenario and we saw less of it as the stages progressed.

Also, the ticker is very less noticible when you are watching in HD as opposed to SD.

Thx,

Jay!
