Kevin Harper and Paul Dickov have been brought into Berti Vogts' Scotland squad for the Euro 2004 double header against the Faroe Islands and Germany.
With Kenny Miller having failed to regain fitness, the manager has extended his options up front with the two attack minded players from promoted Premiership clubs Portsmouth and Leicester, while James McFadden and Steven Thompson return from injury.
Elsewhere, there are no surprises in the squad, although youngsters Darren Fletcher, Brian Kerr and Shaun Maloney have returned to the Under 21 squad after their inclusion for the friendly against Norway. However, the manager will be forced into defensive changes for the Faroes game as Christian Dailly and Steven Pressley are both suspended.
Scotland first meet the Faroe Islands at Hampden Park on Saturday, 6 September, kick-off 3.00 pm. Tickets are now on sale for the match, with adult prices starting at just £10.
Four days later, Scotland head for Germany, with the game taking place at the Westfalen Stadium in Dortmund on Wednesday, 10 September, kick-off 8.45 pm (7.45 in the UK). This match is now sold out.

Why is Naysmith always listed as a midfielder, when he always plays at left-back? Is this spin by the SFA to make the squad look more attack minded than it really is?
Barry Ferguson (Rangers)
Shouldn't that be Barry Ferguson (Blackburn Rovers)? ;)
I don't like this selection.
1) They should have called up more defenders due to the suspensions for the Faroes match.
2) I don't understand why S Caldwell and Devlin are in the squad when they have yet to play this season.
3) I would like there to be at least one more left-sided player in the squad, say Pearson or Hammell from Motherwell.
4) Maybe Berti has forgotten about some of the Nationwide Div 1 players. Scott Murray appears to have started well at Reading (and could have played wide right against the Faroes). Wigan have started well, and have quite a few Scots in their squad (McMillan, McCulloch, Burchill on loan).

If he plays will he be the first black player to play for us since that Andrew Watson guy in the 1880s?

:( we really are crap.....i still dont see why he plays hutchison and then says maloney wont be picked because he doesnt get a game.......i must have missed the games don hutchison played this year and last
and does any1 know how long a foreign player has to play in a country before he gets a passport for that country......i was just wonderin how much longer agathe would have to stay in scotland before we could call him up......then we could have michael mols, i cant remember if he got a cap for holland
and is there a shortcut.....wot would happen if a foreigner comes to scotland and marrys a scottish girl.......would he be eligible to play for scotland then......my plan being scotland should get together all the great uncapped players from the world and all the lovely scottish girls and get them married......and there you go, world champs in no time ;)

Hopefully Lamberto scores on Sat like he did for Celtic at Thistle earlier this season :)
Also McFadden scored twice against him last Saturday.

Todi Jonsson has picked club over country (with a little help from FCK). He may return to international football next year (from what I have heard).

Did he play in the 2-2 game?
Also, why is Elttør not included? I can remember him in that match - a little Faroese Zola in midfield - with fair hair.

I don't know the exact reason why Elttør hasn't been included.
I believe Todi hasn't played with the national team this year.

Is there any internet radio (BBC?) coverage of the Scotland-Faroe Islands match?

Try this link:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/sportscotland/sportsound/
If not you may have to use UEFA.com 's text commentary.
On the game, Hutch & Lambo are doubtful, SSN said that Caldwell would play in defence :(
My Scotland XI:
Rab Douglas
Mo Ross - Andy Webster - Lee Wilkie - Gary Naysmith
Colin Cameron - Barry Ferguson - Paul Lambert - Neil McCann
Stevie Crawford - James McFadden
If Lambo doesn't make it move CC in-field & play Devlin on the right.

McCann (8mins) left-footed volly across keeper into side of Faroese net.
Jonsson (34) beats Douglas to head home after Faroese corner.
Dickov (45+2) Crawford's cross to back post is vollied into the ground & bounces over keeper into the net.
Dickov makes up for a terrible performance with injury time goal. Why didn't McFadden start?

Second half under way.
Scotland on top but Faroese just wide from 25 yard free-kick.
McFadden about to come on!!! :)

Devlin off - McFadden on (at last)
Now is Berti honestly playing a left-sided forward as a right sided midfielder?

Crawford booked for sticking the ball in the net after being given off-side & will miss Germany on Wednesday!!! :(
Not exactly fair when the Faroese captain has conseeded 10 fouls & hasn't been booked yet!!!
