Some early reports that Hearts have signed up none other than media darling and dumbly grinning nincompoop MARK MCGHEE.

Hopefully this will spell a decline in Motherwell's fortunes next year and they return to being perennial relegation fodder. On the flip side Hearts can be guaranteed a short spell at the top of the league before insanity returns and Romanov sacks him.

You heard it here first.

while Romocop is in charge insanity will never leave. it may take a brief respite from the playing side of things as it looks over the plans for the new stand etc.. but then it will return with avengance and sell off any half decent players to Molde, IFK Reykavik or Skonto Riga.

looking forward to another rant at the SPL and the MIB's though. always good fun.

are they any closer to having someone in place?

how hard a job can it be? all you need to know is how to work a fax machine and you're good to go.

i hear Craig Brown is still available...

Over the weekend on SportsSound they mentioned that it was now down to a coach from Iceland that had previously coached in the lower divisions in England and Slovak coach who's team was the double there last year and previously coached in Russia. Needless to say I can't remember their names and have already deleted the podcast. I'll see if my good friend Google can find anything. :D

Edit: Found part of the information rather quickly. The Slovak coach is Vladimir Weiss. It seems like he is the top choice and how his current club is trying to keep him. Although I think it's funny that you would have a Vlad working for a Vlad. So would we now see a influx of Slovak players?

frail has left hearts on gardening leave.

new manager coming in?

what is gardening leave anyway?

is he only allowed in his garden? can he only leave his house to visit garden centres, and in extreme cases B&Q's and Homebase?

god knows who the new man is going to be. Vlad's probably had him locked away in a tower in Lithuania for the past three months to complete his brainwashing before he rolls him out for public display.

basically paid leave, companies do it in order that you don't go and work for a rival for a set period of time.

they best get a better name for it.

gardening leave sounds ridiculous. what the hell is wrong with calling it 'paid leave'...

so the new guy that knocked the position back, Jurgen Rober, has came out and publicly stated what everyone knew. that Romanov wants another puppet manager in charge that he can force his own madcap ideas on -

Rober: 'We had a really interesting meeting and I was impressed by Mr Romanov. He has some good ideas for his club. But the trouble was I have my opinions on how to coach and he has his ideas. Unfortunately these ideas would not come together.

'Romanov has a different thought on how to move a club forward. He's a businessman and I understand why he wants what he wants. But I have been 35 years as a professional in football. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying anything bad about Mr Romanov. He seemed like a nice guy, he treated me well and I was impressed by him during our meeting. We spoke most of the day and went to watch the Kaunas second team at night. But I had this feeling we couldn't come together.

'I have strong ideas on how to build teams and build players. I did it with Hertha over many years when we came from the Second Division to the Champions League. I like to work with the players and build a team together. I like to bring young players up. I know Romanov's idea is to take players from Kaunas and his other club in Minsk (MTZ Ripo).

'Some of this I liked but some of it I was not so sure about. Listen, I know Hearts is a good club and Edinburgh is a great city. I have been to the ground to watch games as a coach before and I enjoyed it. However, this offer was just not for me.'

basically Rober is stating that he wouldn't be allowed to build a team under his own terms. it isn't ground breaking what Rober was looking to do. infact, considering Hearts current financial plight it would seem like the best, and possibly the only way forward for them. to build a team from the youngsters and more established players at the club.

clearly Romanov doesn't want that. so once again, the question has to be asked, does he have the best interests of Hearts at heart?

what kind of manager will he eventually attract to manage the club this season? would anyone worth their salt want to manage under those conditions?

100/1 you say..?

sounds like very good odds to me.

No the difference with Gretna is that there was no support base to rally around the club, Hearts on the other hand are well supported and their fans have past experience with ousting bad owners.

Interestingly enough the original 'Save the Hearts' members were supposed to be having a meeting sometime this week to discuss whether or not they should get back together.

ousting bad owners is all well and good but when your club is £36mill in debt and has next to no sellable assets left, excluding the stadium and it's land, then it becomes a tad trickier.

made all the worse when the owner's bank is holding all the aces.
