I told all of you so called Lens fans that this squad would get relegated. After losing all our top players and bringing in the cancerous Guy Roux disaster has struck! The Lensois are gone until who knows when. I recall some of you arrogantly deriding me when I said that the Lensois would be in Ligue 2 at season's end. Where are you so called experts now??? Fighting for the last one hundred and one years in France could not save this bunch! Thanks president Martel and Mr. Collado. You have ruined the most beloved team in all of France!!!!!!!!

Hey, Hadji, why don't you just be a man and call me out by name instead. So called Lens fan? So I disagree with you at one point and I'm a so called Lens fan? I didn't realize having a different opinion than you meant I was some plastic fan.

Where are we now? Where the ******** have you been? Haven't posted since September, haven't updated your blog since then either and yet you're going to call me out (because let's face it, I'm the only Lensois here). You're a tool.

And while you're at it, read this http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=13580236&postcount=183 and then STFU.

Now go away and support Lille or VA from now on.

Hey relax! I wasn't trying to rip you personally. Several people here wrote that I was panicking for no reason early on in the season. I don't have anything against you or anybody else in here. I am just extremely frustrated with this relegation crap. As far as my blog goes I was blogging on another site. But my blogging is through as there is no possible way to seriously blog about Ligue 2 outside of France which I am unfortunately.

Merde, if "idiots" and "so called Lens fans" isn't ripping people I'd hate to see what you consider really letting someone have it! And I'm the only other Lens fan on here so it's hard to see who else you'd be talking to when you say "so called Lens fans."

Do you belong to the mailing list? Read any of the various RCL forums? With that and a little bit of news hunting on football365.fr, L'Equipe, VDN you should be able to get plenty of info for a nice English language blog.

Hey look, if you want to take things personally go right ahead. If you can't understand the passion and frustration that comes from being a dedicated supporter then what can I say. Keep your grudges if you wish. Maybe you should write a Ligue 2 blog. Unfortunately getting relegated is going to make Lens disappear from the international map. You and I may still be Lens supporters but as far as the world goes and Martel's great Quincenial plans of two years ago, we are dead and buried. I just hope and pray we can make it back to Ligue 1 at this point. And once again, chill out. I'm on your side.

Just keep the backhanded comments coming. You assume I'm bothered by your comments.

Sorry, blogging isn't my thing.

Let's be honest, outside of France we didn't have a ton of name recognition to being with.

And once again, chill out. I'm on your side.

Again, you assume I'm upset to begin with. I merely pointed out in my original post that you should just say who you mean. Maybe you didn't mean it that way but is sure did come across that way. Which was the point of the second post.

Ok, ok let's let cooler heads prevail. We have a long, nightmare of a season in Ligue 2 waiting for us so we need to gather ourselves and support the club somehow so they can hopefully make it back to life. I hear Issam Jemma might be coming back from his loan spell at Caen. Also, Barel Mouko of Dijon is available as a keeper. We will need that when Runje leaves. My guess is that aside from Demont, Mangane, Boukari and Monnet-Paquet everyone else is sure to leave.

Hadji, agreed the club needs supported now. In terms of who is leaving and staying right now no one is safe. Poullet and Lacourt will likely stay, though.

Demont has put his house up for sale. He wants out.

Runje wants to stay but we'll make a lot from him in the transfer market so there's a big question if he will remain but probably not despite his wishes. Le Crom will stay so we have him and I would like to see Broccard get a chance. Wish we still had big Seb between the sticks, I always liked him.

Carriere wants to stay and has repeated that publicly several times.

Remy and Belhadj are likely going to be recalled to Lyon.

Jemma could be damaged goods, from everything I heard he was a major flop at Caen. I'd heard he hadn't settled well and desperately wanted to come back to Lens so perhaps that bodes well for us.

Good to see you blogging again, however you've got a few errors in there along with some things I agree with.

Thomert for 'rubio, fair deal. I've told you before Thomert wanted out. He was becoming a problem in the dressing room. Now, of course, it seems we had more of that this season but I really don't want somebody in the squad who is trying to manufacture his departure. Which was what the Spurs and Portsmouth talk was--his agent making crap up. Lens received no concrete offers for him at Lens' valuation of the player.

Keita, totally agree. I think they could have convinced him to stay but they didn't want to pay enough to do so. Keita, I'm told, was the first former player to call last weekend to offer condolences. He still loves the club. And as you say, we didn't not get enough money for him when we did sell him. He's headed to Barca now for god's sake!

Diouf. He was a good player, but again a bit of a chancer who was looking to cash in so there was no way we would have kept him.

Not only that, but you said we fought relegation the next year. Actually we comfortably finished in 8th that year. It wasn't a great year, but we finished something like 20 points above the relegation places that year.

Cousin. Agreed. A big group of supporters, for whatever reason, absolutely hated them and organized a campaign against him. He eventually made it very clear he was looking to move on and had his agently actively seeking a way out when we transferred him. Again, it's not good to have players who want out of your team but that one has to go against the supporters because had they not pilloried him it's likely he would have wanted to stay.

One thing I think you missed in your criticism is our lack of a youth policy, our lack of home grown players and our willingness to sell of our best young players. You did mention Assou, but you didn't mention Taraabat going to Spurs and now Manure is after Darnel Situ (and I doubt we'll refuse their offer at this point. This goes against the essence of the club. Our history has always been to bring through young players into the squad and we don't do that anymore. On top of that, we've built this huge academy that is pretty costly yet we fail to use it appropriately and that is upsetting. The club needs to get back to its roots and that regard more than anything else.

I've always liked Monnet-Paquet, and if he stays, I think he could very well lead L2 in scoring. Even though I think he already has what it takes to make it in L1, obviously. It's a shame, though, that in the past couple of years, Lens have lost Taarabt, Kakuta, and now likely Situ without getting much of anything back as all of them appear that they'll be very good. The Keita transfer was sad, too, although one has to admit that Seydou really raised his game in Spain (much like Yaya Touré did too). In any event, I think that Lens will come back to L1 in a year, but it's hard to see them challenging for anything if they're not able to hold on to the likes of Taarabt, Kakuta, etc. who will come up through the academy (which I think is very much a strength of the club).

Is it? Really, this is something that has been brewing in the minds of Lens' supporters for about the last year. I guess it is since these players are highly sought after but as you say, the Gaillette is being absurdly misused. That said, when our managers have been tempted to bring in youngsters from the youth set up for an extended run in the team they inevitably get cold feet and use them only on occasion choosing to bring them as part of the group for a match but never actually use them meaning they don't get any game experience at the senior level or at least with the CFA squad.

Gillot flirted with using a number of young players but could never bring himself to fully incorporate them into the team on a consistent basis.

I do think the philosophy needs to be a) keep the young players at the club but also b) actually use them with the first team! While some of these younger players who are leaving aren't quite ready to play at that level if you were them and saw the number (or lack thereof) of young players who have broken into the first team to become regulars you'd take the money and run as well I think.

Another factor in all of this goes to the idea of why team, particularly English teams are looking at buying all of these young players. If a homegrown player rule is ever agreed upon between the EU and UEFA guess how these young French players would count in regard to a rule like that.

Two things in the news with Lens. First of course, is we have a new coach in the name of former Lens captain Jean-Guy Wallemme. Second, is the odd news that new Ligue 1 club Grenoble may not have enough money to move into the top flight. If this were to happen Lens would stay in Ligue 1. Grenoble has until June 11 to come up with 7 million euros.....let's pray they don't.
