Affelay is quality, no doubt. But against the Italians, I'd rather se Kuijt incorporated in the battle plan. We can beat Italy, but we need to work, work, work, work and put constant on pressure them. Kuijt fits excellently into that scheme as he is always putting himself in the opponents face.

Is Robben back for the 2nd game?

Take a hike, it's not the time to kick us when we're on the ground.

I took it the right way. It was misplaced humor on the wrong time, at the wrong place on your part. Since it was oblivious to you that YOU hit a nerve, one can hope that you'll be more thoughtful the next time.

We take it serious because we're passionate people.
You're missing the POINT still. We play a 4-2-3-1 with originally only two wingers that's integral to our gameplan. WITHOUT our wingers our game will SUFFER, making it easier for the opposition to defend. That's the tactical view on the matter. Talentwise we can't lose that much power to make a fair bid I think. For Holland it feels like losing 2 Cannavaro's and this really hurts our chances.
But yes, there is always a chance. But we Dutchmen don't believe in it.

Man....calm the ******** down, seriously.

If you keep banging your head off the keyboard it's not going to work anymore. Use the table mate.

I wouldn't make a bet for that, but I'm afraid he will not play against France..

I thought Robben was only out for this game, are they replacing him on the squad? Or is Afellay allready on the roster?
Affelay might replace Robben for Italy match

Is Robben back for the 2nd game?
Thats the million dollar question, nobody knows right now

In that case, it's probably safe to assume he's out for the tournament.

That might be
I was looking forward to Euro all year, then all this sh*t happens

We have to hope for a tie against Italy, a boring 0-0 is fine by me.
Then beat or tie France and kick the living f*cking daylights out of Romania by 4 or 5 goals and we're through.

After that just pray Robben and vPersie are magically healed for the QF's and
maybe we'll be allright.
But I'm not counting it, seems the footie-gods are not with us this year :o

Pherhaps we'll catch a few lucky breaks in our games?

You never know. I still believe we can put in a solid performance.

v. Persie can play against France without any problems. He might play some minutes against Italy..

Anyhow, Afellay proved against bigger teams in the CL and Uefa Cup that he can play against difficult teams, as did Kuyt in the CL. I don't worry, but it will be very difficult against Italy.

Man....calm the ******** down, seriously.

If you don't rate the predicament, that's fine. But seriously, you can't tell me what to do. These passionate outbursts are with merit.

It's difficult when people can't or refuse to understand and have to explain all over again.

I really liked what I saw for Afellay against Fiorentina in the UEFA Cup. Very speedy winger who's also quite clever. I think he's a little too raw atm to be playing in this kind of tournament but the Dutch are short on options as it is.

Ironically Afellay's agent spoke about how Fiorentina was unlikely to sign him which means he's already getting noticed.

You're right about him being a raw gem. He has speed and trickery but has the Dutch decease of being injury prone  Even before the day of battle we don't know who will start. The media is still speculating. van Basten told the press that he even might consider van Persie to start - which is crazy in my opinion. Kuyt also may have a say about it, since he had a more than decent part in the friendlies. Afellay, I don't know. Most likely that he will come a class short when facing Materazzi, but he might give that one throughball or cross that could change things. It's really a difficult call to make who will start.

The good news is that Robben won't be changed for another player. He will miss Italy and France, but is likely to play against Romania. That might be the edge we want if we're looking for a result we badly need.

Update: Robben will be out of action until the quarter-finals of Euro 2008 for the Netherlands with a groin injury, Sky Sports reports.

Analysis: He'll miss upcoming games against France and Romania at a minimum.

That's a shame. Robben is a great winger and an asset to the Dutch team. Hopefully he makes a speedy recovery. I love watching him play.

Ive also read that van persie may be fit to play. If Affelay does in fact play he brings very much what Robben does in a younger more raw package. He is a fantastic player. Exteremely fast and strong ball control and is capable of causing a lot of problems. He tore up tottenham in the uefa game, and i think some of the fiorentina fans got a taste of him.

This should be a great game.

I think it has the potential to be the greatest match of the group phase or the most boring. Depends on if both teams want to take chances and go at one another.

I also heard this one:
Van der Sar; Ooijer, Boulahrouz, Heitinga, Van Bronckhorst; De Zeeuw, De Jong, Van Persie, Van der Vaart, Sneijder; Huntelaar

Id be a little shocked to see Heitinga not in the first 11. in midfield or defence
