Please ignore him, he's a Germany fan from south east asia and has pissed off most Germans on this board as well. I guess we Germans should be grateful for any bandwagon fan we can get though... :D
and you're just being an idiot. I hadn't seen this when I got your PM.
Sorry I didn't realise you had to be born and bred german to follow germany.
After all the explaining I've done to you on the topic, it really surprises me that you come back with this bullshit.
EDIT :
and please drop the "south east asia" line in that context because that isn't accurate. It's like calling a black american "african". I've grown up all over the world from a very, very young age, had a lot of german influence in football and you know that.
And "most germans" means...just you.
And you're the only one who I had to completely explain myself to when I joined this board.
Who do you think you are? Big Brother?
In that case you could read all the posts first and realise that when I say something, posters like johann neeskens, amsteldam etc know where I'm coming from.
I've never had a conversation with "awareness" before and he took it the wrong way as a result.

Hmm. Let's take this to PMs ok - seems slightly unrelated to the game. Sorry if I hit a nerve there.

Squid, I know you're just joking but maybe now's not the time OK.
A lot of people are upset right now

This game and group are still anyone's to take though. And I think it will be decided on the final group match day. Your team is still to be feared so good luck!
By the way, I do know how you feel...when we lost Cannavaro I felt like crying like a baby. He is our best defender, our captain and our talisman. Our defense is for the first time in my life a "weak point" of our squad. But that is the game of football...

jeez dude, calm down. I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to a dutch poster I have a rapport with. They would already know what I mean by comments like that.
You may have a rapport with him, but you didn't exercise judgement on this sensitive matter. We Dutchmen are proud of our team and still feel we have something to prove. Our chances were slim before the injuries but they were there and with Robben out we're realistic enough to acknowledge our desperate situation in our bid for some success.

Thank you for the kind words, but we know our own strenghts and weaknesses and for a Dutchman it's now best not to expect anything.

you did hit a nerve, mostly because of the contents of your post on this topic on the last page and a little because you'd not read past conversations between certain dutch posters and I.
i deleted the last PM as i did not want to read more PMs on it as i had said, so unless there was something important in it let's drop the topic altogether...

sorry amsteldam
even though i put the comment into context by saying "because we've only lost schneider", i can understand where you are coming from. :)

I took it the right way. It was misplaced humor on the wrong time, at the wrong place on your part. Since it was oblivious to you that YOU hit a nerve, one can hope that you'll be more thoughtful the next time.

everyone could feel they have something to prove...i understand that
i was coming at it from a relaxed angle and i still also believe that since all 3 of these teams in the group have injury problems, holland's chances are still about the same as they were before
sorry if the misunderstanding created by my post caused any pain :)

yes you took it the right way given that you were upset, while i thought it was reasonable to think you weren't that upset...but it's all good now
Taking this game a little too seriously are we? It's not the last tournament ever, so chill people. :D Holland have enough talent to challenge, hopefully Italy knows that.

Holland's chances of making it out of the group I meant, because those 3 who are out are only out for the first game against Italy. They can impact the next 2 games and from there on.
And I thought the two games last night were dud games so hopefully we'll get some good games over the next few days

We take it serious because we're passionate people.
You're missing the POINT still. We play a 4-2-3-1 with originally only two wingers that's integral to our gameplan. WITHOUT our wingers our game will SUFFER, making it easier for the opposition to defend. That's the tactical view on the matter. Talentwise we can't lose that much power to make a fair bid I think. For Holland it feels like losing 2 Cannavaro's and this really hurts our chances.
But yes, there is always a chance. But we Dutchmen don't believe in it.

The question is who plays behind van nistelrooij with sneijder and van der vaart, kuijt or affelay?
Robben is a huge loss, but I think that Kuijt is our best replacement. we lost a lot of creativity obviously but kuijt's mentality and work rate may help inspire the team to push forward through the game. playing kuijt from the beginning then also saves our creativity (affelay, van persie(late game sub?)) for later into the game.
I would also advocate De Cler at LB because he will still be able to effectively stretch out the game deep in the final third. Is melchiot 100% out of the first game.
I was devastated when I heard the news of Robben. Creativity is what was needed, and it stinks for all football fans when the biggest talents go down. However, anyone who has seen affelay play knows the skill involved, and Kuijt has arguably been one of our best payers in the last 3-4 friendlies. both robben and van persie will be back for game 2, so i think if we can get a result out of our first game, it will be a huge confidence boost for the rest of the tournament.

Engelaar should definately be in the first 11 now as a holding midfielder. He knows how to attack when needed, and we need his passing game between the defenders and midfielders. I really still think we have a legitimate chance to beat the italiens, but will be happy with a draw.

According to the latest rumours Afellay will take Robben's spot. Good choice to be honest, fantastic player!

I thought Robben was only out for this game, are they replacing him on the squad? Or is Afellay allready on the roster?
