there is your "walk in the park" comment
So you are taking an ironic comment out of context and make it "some of you Germans"?

Fair enough. But maybe you contradicted your self slightly there when you implied that "things like this can spoil the fun of the tournament" for you. Anyway never mind, it's not important.
Yes I did contradict myself slightly, it made me a bit sad after further consideration.

I don't know anyone who thinks that match was a walk in the park. We had the better chances and more of them, that's for sure but if any had been in on both sides I think it would have ended 1-0 for the respective team.
Excuse me? Did I say anything about us winning the WC or anything? I was using this to say that some act as if we cheated Polen or did something else that was really meanbadevil judging from the theater that is surrounding that match and the upcoming one from Poland's point of view.
I don't read kicker. The telly action was in the news a couple of months ago and someone posted the poll because he thought the result was odd.
Why so aggressive? I asked what's the matter. I'd like to know.
i'm bored at work... i have 45 minutes left... just relax, don't take it personal. i just wanted a conversation for the sake of conversation :(

No problem and good luck for your exam.
If you have time later on maybe you can dig a bit deeper in the matter of what is the issue with that game and the whole Poland vs Germany thing.

i'll look into what you wanted after my exam... can you by chance toss out there again all the points you wondered? if you want to add anymore to the list go for it... and i'll get back with a response sometime later today

do u really want to play that game of "what ifs" because anyone can play that game when referring to any event in the past
haha... what you failed to remember from that match is Poland had a few good chances as well and there was one distinct one that permanently is tattooed to the back of my mind almost. the ball was crossed in from the right flank. Smolarek had beaten his marking and slid around the edge of the 6 yard box right in front of goal to connect with the ball. his finishing wasn't as good as now at the time. and the ball his the back of his calf then bounced off the ground and went off to the side away from goal where it was cleared. if he connected on the end of that one properly it would have been 1-0 Poland. so if you want to play a bunch of "what ifs" go for it... but it easily could have been 1-0 in favor of Poland as well
true, i should not have said "never" been a poland win... (this comment goes for marbur as well)
but if you look at the possession and chances overall it was germany well ahead

we weren't cheated... but we were'nt a "walk in the park" like some of you Germans so marvelously put it. we loss 1-0 with a late winner for Germany in stoppage time. that is by no means a walk in the park. both sides had good chances, overall it was a good match... plain and simple.
the walk in the park was from benztown and I about what this upcoming game could be if they just concentrate on ballack and think that that'll stop the engine.
about the 06 game I think we had the more chances and possession and a poland win looked unlikely while a germany win was likely as the game went on and a draw less and less likely. It wasn't a walk in the park.
good luck with your exam now that you've spent the whole day not studying :p

just remember that you mustn't mention the war. :D
i find the whole "war" thing to be a pathetic reason for a Pole to start an argument with german or person of german descent. any one who does it is ignorant these days especially since most people that had to deal with it are at least in their 80's. it happened a long time ago and is very tragic but it is no reason now a days to bring it up. it is something to be sad and aware of, but if anything the lesson learned should be not to fight over all that has happened because there was enough of it already in the past. it was roughly 70 years ago, its been many generations since then. the thing that makes me sick isn't the germans but the polish in poland that have adopted the neo-nazi culture. it is sick to think about the entire principle behind all of it. there is no reason for that type of culture to exist. especially in of all countries, poland for fock sake. i have nothing more to say about that topic, but myself being polish that is how i see things

Someone please explain to me what's the issure with the Poles and that match? It's not like we cheated them for the WC title so why are so many so bitter about the game? Kicker is having a new survey on who is going to win the game. Guess who is leading the poll by a huge margin? They probably made a call on telly again to go to the site and vote for Poland like a couple of months ago.
I really don't get this.
Poland has issues with that match for several reasons... i'll try to mention all of them
1--- Poland was just across the border and was able to bring a lot of support and they figured it'd practically be a home match for Poland or at least neutral even though it was against Germany IN Germany
2--- Poland had a manager Janas who we all seemed to be fairly confident in, and had a pretty good qualifying but then just before the match he made some sketchy cuts before heading into the World Cup, a big one was Frankowski who was crucial to us in qualifying. it made almost no sense tactically. we played with 2 strikers up top the entire time... this is before Smolarek proven himself so pretty much Poland had to resort to playing with only 1 striker (zurawski) starting the 1st match of the World Cup... it was focked up because the guys weren't ready to switch like that. BUT many of the fans were soooooo confident after pretty good qualifying that they figured the success would carry over. And some of those supporters were completely ignorant to the fact Janas had switched up tactics practically the night before the 1st match. which doesn't help the players who believed and trusted the one way and bought into the idea of the 2 strikers up top... just for him to change it and them to be unsure of him. in addition Poland was doomed by the simple fact that Zurawski has never been capable of getting the job done as a lone striker, he has never been good enough. he's been one of the better ones for Poland over the years but when you are competing against crap for a starting striker spot, it isn't very hard to be the prettiest pile of crap out there. things have changed a little with Smolarek, we have someone with some potential
3--- getting rocked by Ecuador left a bitter taste in our mouths before the Germany match, it sort of carried over to it... and even after, especially considering it was a heart breaking lost to Germany
4--- some may still be stubborn because expectations were high or at least higher than usual and many were burned. they were done wrong. they believed and dreamed big (as in making it to the quarters if lucky) just to be let down in the end big time with just a win against Costa Rica. thats like at a hotel being promised a great breakfast just to find out that you actually only got that complimentary crap breakfast that you'd probably rather not eat anyways.
5--- many Poles still have that nasty taste in their mouth and EVER since the groups were drawn for the Euro Poles have been impatient for possible revenge. they want some sort of satisfaction. drawing Austria is nice, Croatia will be a tough task and a very difficult one to say the least but Croatia will be overlooked this entire time, BECAUSE everyone (Poles) is eye-focking the shite out of the Poland vs Germany match up. all the focus is on this match, and it has been for months. Leo has been pretty good in qualifying and Poles feel confident because Germany's success was built off of Klinsmann not Low. Low inherited everything Klinsi worked for and built. many people, not just Poles feel Low isn't competent enough to get the job done. on paper Germany is one of the favorites, but in reality many feel that he won't put the players in the position for success. with that said many feel Germany will still advance regardless out of the groups, after that who knows how far they go

Thank you for the detailed explanation. :) I don't have much time now and will reply later but I just wanted to mention that it was Löw who did pretty much the whole tactics and work with the team before and during the WC, not Klinsmann who was more of a manager and motivator. The players came to Zwanziger after the WC match against Portugal, opted for Löw as future coach and said he was the main reason why everything had gone so well for us at the WC.

1--- i know, i just wanted to go on a footy rant... if i get bored i like to argue so sometimes my friends and i argue over stupid stuff... in this case i was working 9am to 530pm and was close to the end of the work day and instead of gouging my eyes out in boredom i decided to start up a conversation by interpreting it differently. i understood where he came from but this thread didn't have many people in it so i wanted to spice it up a bit between the people that were here... little did i know that as soon as i would start that stuff... i'd get my balls jumped on by a ton of people that weren't here before :p haha (note to self for next time)
2--- i agree fully with your assessment of the match
3--- thanks, i ended up getting a B on it... its a fair result. i wanted to do better but it was the best i could have done since one of the chapters gave me a tough time. i'm currently going into my 4th (or senior) year of university this coming fall and am a finance major with my focus being corporate finance. so basically i've been studying all the different types of accounting methods and seeing what ways are the best for pricing projects, and also which projects should be taken on or which ones should not, as well as how to improve current processes or which ones should be dropped. its pretty complicated stuff. usually i'm great at it, but tossing in 8 hour work days... its a little to much. my schedule consists of work, work out, study or work on homework, little bit of free time, then sleep and do it all over again. usually i have options or am able to switch things around because i have time during the school year. but not now during the summer :( but good news is i scheduled my off days around Poland's Euro schedule and i am getting high-definition cable hooked up for my flat-panel tele so i will get to enjoy one heck of a Euro group including a solid Poland side, and two great sides in Croatia and Germany as well, oh and also the hosts Austria (hehe). i already had fox soccer channel and goltv, but now since ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2 all have high definition channels and are all covering the Euro... it should be a good few weeks

About the photo-montages from the polish tabloid - its just a sort of reply for the tv commercial in germany. This one:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=NJDznXsweio
So I think the game was tied:
German 1:1 Poland (in total idiotisms)
Until theEURO2012 article in Spiegel, which has already been denied by Platini...
So now you guys are leading 2:1 - but I think it will be a very close game ;)

Spiegel *Online* is a disgrace, they should have learned their lesson after the "satire" they publish before the game vs. Italy two years ago.

senior in college huh...so that's why eissman is always on your case he's just jealous ;)
i wouldn't have a clue about finance and accounting as I did civil engineering but a B is good...I don't see the point of going for super high marks unless you really have the time...once you get into the workforce the pure academics matter little.
that is why civil engineering is great...well I also chose it because work is easy to find (the most basic and common form of engineering) and it's the one with the least time spent in front of a computer.
anyway, i hope germany win this game but I want poland to beat croatia to go through as well.
I like croatia but i'd like to see poland go through in a head to head between those two teams.
speaking of eissman, he should be around these parts soon as he said he's going to be following the euros closely.
I will basically be waking up at 6:45 am for all the games and even the 4 am ones...well definitely the one (croatia v/s germany) that germany plays anyway. Will be watching it with my cousin who is also a longtime germany supporter. You got any polish fans over there with you?
