Poland is not a focking powerhouse man... so i don't know how high your fricken expecations are for them. they overachieved and won in a pretty tough Euro qualifying group that included the likes of Portugal, Serbia, Finland, and Belgium. and although they may not have put together the best performances at times, they have gotten the job done. and Poland doesn't even have any superstars like Ballack, Lahm, Klose, etc. To make Beenhakker sound overrated is ridiculous. Poland had two good outtings against Portugal who have players like Quaresma, Simao, Deco, Christiano Ronaldo, Lissandro Lopez, Moutinho, Maniche, etc. Poland is not near their class but they got the job done. Poland were NEVER favorites in this matchup, but the great thing about these matches that we all know... is that matches aren't played out on paper.
I think you're misunderstanding him. He wasn't saying the Polish NT is overrated, just Beenhakker and his tournament record with the Dutch NT.

I am not talking about the Polish team, just Beenhakker. To be frank, I think Poland has the quality to make it past the first round. But I also believe that while he may able to pull results out against Portugal, you don't always play high class european teams. I don't believe Beenhakker has the versatility to match up against all three teams effectively. But hey, I have been wrong before.

I should think so. He is the manager, after all. Wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't know his opposition.

haha... so what does a manager do in his free time if he doesn't study his opposition? :p i'd love to see a manager like that just for sh!ts and giggles

maybe tactics, training session plans, looking at himself in mirror with new haircut :D

I think the German scouting system is among the best in the world (just ask the Argentinian penalty takers.)
Löw doesn't have to go to other matches or practice sessions because he has a lot of capable people around him who do just that and whom he can trust.

I hope the Polish team thinks the same way. In that case, it's going to be a walk in the park for Germany.
"Walk in the park?" Easy there bud, you're not playing San Marino here.

I was responding to the attitudes of you guys. You know, taking out Ballack with two guys and Germany will be out of the game and all that.

And it's true, if the Polish team would believe that, it would be a walk in the park...

No matter what, it won't be a "walk in the park."

i guess 1-0 with a late stoppage time winner is a "walk in the park" :p

your example is a horrid one... everyone knows germans are stiff and cold blooded, they practically have ice in their veins. they are phenomenal when it comes to penalties. their field players know how to finish them, and their goalkeepers know how to stop them. i don't think you need to give a history lesson of that long ago to try and prove a point. considering in this past Champions League, Neuer took Schalke on his back and had phenomenal outtings against Porto. Porto threw everything and the toolshed at Neuer and he still stopped it. in penalties of course Schalke prevailed.

its not a matter of the german "scouting system" it is more so a matter of the german "genetic engineering"... what you may know if you are German, or what you may not know if you are not... is they have an extra chromosome in their DNA thats sole purpose is for penalty situations

:D Hahaha this is SO true..

and i agree the game against Polan wont be any close to "walk in the park"

But i have faith in this team.. GO Germany! make us proud!

And we haven't been in any EC games before. I'm really glad just to be in this tournament, and hope for Poland to go as far as possible.

I'm excited as hell to get the tournament under way. I can't imagine how antsy I will be the night before the match. Either way, it will be a good game, IMO. I'm going to watch as many games as possible, no matter who plays.:)

if poland concentrate on just ballack and not the others then it will be a walk in the park as they'll run around unhindered

but i'm pretty sure in the World Cup Germany thought there would be a walk in the park and it turned out you guys needed a late stoppage time winner by Neuville of all people

if it's another game like that i will be happy as poland did not get anywhere and germany dominated possession and created about 5-6 good chances and would have been goals but for poor finishing

even though it was 1-0, it was never going to be a poland win and a draw less and less likely as the game went on

do u really want to play that game of "what ifs" because anyone can play that game when referring to any event in the past

haha... what you failed to remember from that match is Poland had a few good chances as well and there was one distinct one that permanently is tattooed to the back of my mind almost. the ball was crossed in from the right flank. Smolarek had beaten his marking and slid around the edge of the 6 yard box right in front of goal to connect with the ball. his finishing wasn't as good as now at the time. and the ball his the back of his calf then bounced off the ground and went off to the side away from goal where it was cleared. if he connected on the end of that one properly it would have been 1-0 Poland. so if you want to play a bunch of "what ifs" go for it... but it easily could have been 1-0 in favor of Poland as well
