Any new ideas after today squads announcements? I think that Loew's decisions are not surprising, excluding 2 young 2. Bundesliga players and Jermaine Jones, as Matusiak's and Majewski's omission by Don Leo could also be expected.
But our left back Grzegorz Bronowicki out of squad (he was back from injury and coach decided he wouldn't risk taking player who is not fully fit) can complicate things. Bronowicki was main candidate for starting position at left back and now we have probably four options:
1. Michal Zewlakow on left back. He used to play there for Poland, but placing him there would weaken pair of center backs he actually makes with Jacek Bak (another central defender - Jop or Kokoszka - would be in starting 11)
2. Dariusz Dudka on left back. But similar problem appears: Dudka is our main defensive midfielder, so placing him on the left back dismounts midfield screen.
3. Jakub Wawrzyniak on left back. He is nominal left back and not in the first squad at this moment so it doesn't complicate situation in other sections. But Wawrzyniak is not experienced and I am afraid not sufficent quality for starting eleven.
4. Pawel Golanski on left back. He usually plays on right back where Marcin Wasilewski seems to be a starter. It could be best sollution however I haven't seen Golanski on left back for ages.
Any ideas?
Don't know the other 3, but if you mean olympiakos' player Zewlakow, this year he played ok as a center back, but really really bad as a left back and I don't think he should be used there.

ON TOPIC: I think Germany might win through a close game, maybe 2-1 win.
... with Oliver Neuville scoring the last-minute winner after a crossball from Odonkor! :D
All jokes aside: This won't be an easy game for Germany ... especially with the diverse problems we're facing lately (injuries, many players out of form or without match practise, bad defending etc.) and due to the fact that Poland improved a lot under Beenhakker!
I wouldn't be surprised to see a draw as the outcome of this game.
Löw understands the importance of the first match, and will tactically rip the poles apart.
Then you have no clue about the tactical competence of Mr. Beenhakker...
Being asked which of Germany's opponents in group B might prove to be the strongest, Joachim Löw answered: Poland.
Then he has no clue about the strength of the Croatians...
If we don't beat Poland, I doubt we'll manage to get a win over Croatia.

I'm more worried about Poland than about Croatia actually. Missing Eduardo will be a massive blow to Croatia. Also, it's the first game which is always tricky.

na I am more worried about croatia. Poland have never beaten east or west germany (not sure if that includes friendlies but I think it does). Croatia can cover for eduardo pretty well.
But with reference to borussia's comment, I think that he is ignoring the probabilities which is why I said he's being pessimistic.

West Germany, no. The closest that Poland came to winning was in the opening match of the 78 WC that ended 0:0. As for East Germany, both countries played 17 matches with Poland winning 8, drawing 4 and losing 5, with some of the games famous because of political undertones, especially those in the 80's.

It will likely be a hard fought contest, with a very good chance of ending up as a draw.
This "weather forecast like" prediction aside :D, it should be a great game.

I think a draw would be incredible for Poland. However, a loss is more likely and a win almost inconceivable. I can dream though....:D

C'mon, you still have to beat us ;) ... so what would a victory be?

Cause he doesn't know much about him. :-)

of epic proportions!!!
i don't pick or predict scorelines for the sake of me later thinking i jinxed one thing or another. but i can not wait for this match... Lewandowski and Dudka are in the middle of the pitch and that gets as solid as a bank door can get. there is no chance in hell that Dudka plays left-back with how well he has done as defensive mid. of course Dudka can play LB, BUT he won't. more than likely the Left-back will be decided between Golanski or Wawrzyniak... its too important to keep our CB's together who have gotten used to each other in Żewłakow and Jop.
Beenhakker is a lot smarter than people think. like others had said he is a great manager of players, i don't look for him to shake things up.
you're going to see this more than likely
Boruc
Wasilewski
Jop
Żewłakow
Golanski/Wawrzyniak/Bak (bak option in middle and Żewłakow pushed outside)
Dudka
Lewandowski
Krzynowek
Błaszczykowski/Łobodziński
Smolarek
Zurawski

Poland will lead them 2:0 in 45 Min. Then KLOSE, PODOLSKI will surrender their German passport and play second half for Poland :) .... LoL ..... :D

i wouldn't want either
IN EBI I TRUST :)
i can't wait to see Lahm play RB... he is a world-class LB but for some reason thinks he is just as good as a RB!!! hahaha... Lahm is a one trick pony that loves to be on the left flank and cut the ball to his right foot for the cross, pass, or shot... now what the fock is he going to do on the right flank since he is incompetent with his left foot? :p

The game will be draw 1-1 with Poland missing a bunch of other chances to score. Germany will lead.

Actually he thinks he's the best RB in the world.
That trick on the left side doesn't work when your opponent knows exactly what you're gonna do 9 out of 10 times (same with Schweinsteiger). On the right he's able (when in form) to get past the opposing players and then to cross the ball.

hahaha... well with his new increase in wages at Bayern, i wouldn't be surprised if it had gotten to his head. he is one of the better ones out there, but i don't know if he was really worth the cost. because then it will inflate all the other wage demands by the players. so Bayern will have to dish out more money to other players who don't deserve it, just because Lahm wanted more wages per week "and an idea of Klinsmanns plans" OR else he wanted out... personally i thought Lell and Sagnol were fully capable of the RB position. and Jansen is a damn good LB, Lahm in my opinion was expendable, to other people maybe not
the question that i have for all you German NT guys are... has Low announced who is starting the Right-Mid for you? Because I heard Friedrich is out so Lahm is on the right now and Jansen is on the left for the backs. I figured Odonker would probably be starting, BUT i heard that Low is supposedly resting Fritz so he can start right-mid for you guys... the thing i always wondered in all of this is why not play Borowski on the left flank, and switch Schweinsteiger over to the right so he can stay comfortable with Lahm, since i think Borowski is better option out there than Fritz or Odonker. so what is Germany going to do with Schneider's spot?

No one knows but there is discussion of playing Podolski as a wide-mid on the left!
