Maybe he quit because he's had enough of co-analyzing matches with Paula Abdul!

No its not even sourced but he hasn't been commentating since the incident, and I do vaguely remember him asking; "what stadium are they playing in again?"

In all honesty as stupid as it is his replacement is still pretty good.

Yeah, Mustoe is also quite good and offers some of the same insight as a former player himself. No complaints with him, just a surprise that Gray has suddenly been benched, so to speak.

I'm watching the Italy-Romania game right now and sometime during the first half after plugging the Holland-France game that happens later, Derek Rae mentioned that Adrian Healey and Andy Gray will be the commentators. Looks like it was only a one game "suspension" and he only missed yesterdays Poland-Austria game.

Based on a TV schedule I saw, he wasn't scheduled to work games Tuesday and Wednesday - Mustoe was to be paired with Healey - so Gray was "suspended" for the next game he was to be a commentator - which was Poland-Austria.

Thats if he was suspended at all - something else could have made him be away from the booth but not take him away from the studio.

Yah, like I said it was on wiki and now its not so who knows what the real reason. Whether it was true or not I imagine a short angry irish man was responsible for that wiki entry.

And what a job he did today; he was equal to a wonder game.
