Hello.
I realise that a LOT of things have been going on lately for Minnesota Thunder fans and soccer fans in general. But am I the only one for whom the following three items seem to hint at a possible shakeup that, whenever suggested before, has been met with mostly derision and ridicule by the "cognoscenti" of the soccer boards?
Item one, from 2004:

Item two, from a May 4th interview with Thunder co-owner Dean Johnson on The Score690 (thanks, Jon):
On his vision for the future of the Thunder: "We want to stay in the league we're in," Johnson said. He called Major League Soccer a "superficial" league, a marketing creation, while noting that in the USL teams are owned by owners rather than by the league as they are in MLS. As to his goals for the Thunder, he says, "We want to bring to Minnesota championship soccer, world-class soccer."
Item three from a May 14th response by Thunder President Manny Lagos to Brian Quarstad's piece about the Thunder's mid-season return to the NSC. (Posted at BlueSkySoccer.com. Thanks, bq.) :
"Lastly, please do not underestimate the due diligence Nike is doing right now not only with our individual club, but also the entire league and how major decisions will be made THIS SUMMER about the future of our league!!"
Now, let me tie this together with some paring of initialisms:
AL and NL
NFL and AAFL
NFL and AFL
BAA and NBL
NBA and ABA
NHL and WHA
Trotting out one of my faves, "I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'," I remain
That little old jersey collector
